what he meant was, if Hammi wins the WDC, ( which i think he will ), Luca's saying that he did it using a Ferrari car. indirectly, it's because of the Spygate Saga.

Luca could try to use this line of arguing in an ad for Fiat. I'm sure it would be received just fine...

No more funny than LH saying HIS title wont be tainted. Frankly LH comments are more ridiculous. His fat pay raise courtesy of Alonso and De La Rosa texting each other reguarding Fcar set up. LH used set up data derived from Alonso.

Certainly both titles are tainted. Its a year best forgotten as the titles were not all settled on the track.
I can only imagine the outcry if this sad soap opera was reversed and Ferrari were at fault openly cheating and team members of an executive nature carrying hundreds of documents belonging to Mclaren.

Mclaren is not a team I have any respect for at the moment.

    Actually:

    1. Although a successful business person in his own right and past team management, Luca is a horse's a$$ for making a comment like this.

    2. Lewis has no one to thank but himself for his pay raise. If anything Alonso and De La Rosa made sure there was LESS money in the kitty with which to pay drivers.

I agree 100%. Based on the spygate ruling, Luca's statement is less outrageous than Hamilton's but in the end it is a sad day for all F1 fans. Don't think there is a lot of Ferrari in the McLaren car per se, but look at how quickly McLaren were able to adopt to the BS tires as compared to Renault et al. No doubt technical data on what works/doesn't work was in those papers as regards to BS tires.

However, what's done is done.....I hope FA goes back to Renault and BMW can take the next step up so it isn't a 2 team event...

And in reality, although illegal, McLaren's use of the data, as found by the FIA, leveled the playing field that was tilted in Ferrari's favor when Bridgestone was chosen as the sole tire manufacturer. What we have now is the result of tire performance being taken out of the equation and McLaren's drivers proving they were better than Ferrari's this year (so far).

Luca is well above the need to make a remark like this, but maybe his political ambitions caused it as he felt others were stealing the limelight!

Copying set up data from your rival on a team, says alot about what you DONT know. His pay raise was assured as RD has favored this prodigy he trained from day one of this season. Both Mclaren drivers are exempted by the WMSC from damage via Mclarens' actions.
They are in fact no less guilty but simply not held liable for their TEAMS actions of which they are members. Hamilton has a long way to go. He himself is tainted as much as Alonso. His remaining rookie time only ensures his media position. Next year he is just another F1 driver and no longer a rookie sensation, his title if won soon, always in question. That is not in dispute in any forum.

Agreed. He could have stayed out of the fray. Too bad, Ferrari looks less classy as these comments roll fourth. As others stated its time to move on. I still hate how this season turned out with the scandal. Always next year eh?? :)

Well maybe Luca is right. I've heard that the new lighter McLaren gearbox uses a whole new kind of material. Instead of carbon fiber they used layers of paper. 780+ layers in fact... ;)

Luca is a dip...the 2007 McLaren F1 car was designed in 2006 and completed and tested in late 2006 and early 2007 way before the Ferrari documents were stolen by the disgruntled Ferrari employee. The only info McLaren could have possibly used at that stage was set-up with the Bridgestone tires...and they would have got that after the first race anyway...if Luca had any class he would turn down the 2007 WCC as it was clearly not earned nor deserved based on on-track performance...

Not sure I would agree the driver's championship is so tainted as the WCC. No drivers have been disqualified they just have failed to beat Hamilton. Don't get me wrong, as said before I am not a Hamilton groupie but I have to recognize talent and great performances when I see them. No one - including the two time WDC driving the same car, has beaten him.

...have you visited PLANET EARTH lately?

set up with Bridgestone tires?...you dont even know what a tire is or what it looks like.

Ever heard of undercar floor boards?
    Dynamic cooling braking systems?
    EngineHeat recovery systems?
Inert gas-noble gas ratios for tire inflation?

    ...nevermind...

I thought I´ve heard it all after Bernie or Max Mosleys explanations...

but you Sir really belong to a different dimention of logic.
Your posts are an absolute waste of time, electricity, band width, disk space, and fingertips...

You have a point in that the WCC is relatively hollow as a result of not winning it on the track. The problem is that Luca is more of a; how do I say this nicely, a politician, than anything else. He probably would take the WCC even if the McLaren team couldn't compete as a result of a plane crash.

It's best we forget the comments of those who speak before thinking.

I think Montezemolo is somewhat right. The point is not that McLaren used the info, but that they lied about having it, and that if they did nobody looked at it... I think Dennis was using the Clinton defence and it is wrong... I think the most damning thing is that McLaren are not appealing!

If you thought you were totally innocent why would you not appeal? as for Alonso & Hamilton... if they knew about any of this they should have come forth... Alonso just used the info to beat Dennis into a corner, then Dennis ratted out on himself!!!! talk about falling on your sword! I think the championship is basically a farce... this just has pointed out to how WWF it really is.

American Le Mans and FIA World Sports cars are the only true racing series left....I like money just as much as anyone, but $$$$ has totally ruined Formula One. the racing sucks, the cars suck, the coverage sucks, there is really nothing great about it any more.

You are absolutely right. This year F1 is standing for number one Farce.
I think that we have seen quite few times in the press when things are spun out of context. Remember that it may very well be Mr Mozarella saying one thing in Italian then it gets translated in German and from there comes into english, as something quite different . Sometimes it is done on purpose and other times not, but we have seen Alonshole(as much as I don't like him) and Stepney (whom I definitely don't like) fall victim of the same thing.Again this is just my speculation and I am not stating it as a fact.
