It was nice to see Phil Bachman at Watkins Glen before he took off for France for the next FXX session. Of course you know first hand RTB, but Phil, Martha and PB are extremely nice people on top of being real enthusiasts.....can't miss that yellow FXX !

    Thanks for your comments everyone.

After Paul Ricard, the car did 40+ laps at Mugello with Fiorano Ferrari, the Ferrari GB driving club. It was a really great day.

Next stop, World Finals - Mugello again!

Sorry that I haven't updated you all for a while, but it's been nice to be back home in the UK!

The FXX hasn't run since Fiorano Ferrari at Mugello, and won't run again until the finals which are not too far away now.

In the meantime, my DBR9 finished 2nd in GT1 at the Silverstone 1000km with Antonio Garcia (the best driver in the world NOT in F1!) and Darren Turner (2007 GT1 Le Mans winner), and I've been out at Silverstone in the GTO Evoluzione today!

I hope that's enough news to warrant a post!!

Actually no :D . We are very demanding and we require pictures !

How did the Evo feel ? How does it compare to an F40 and to your FXX ?

    Thanks for the update,

The best/fastest driver in the world not in F1 is by many people, including quite a number of renown racing engineers and team bosses/managers considered to be Jan Magnussen, the triple GT1 class Le Mans winner! (Although he used to be in F1 with Mclaren and Stewart years ago!) :) http://www.janmagnussen.com

The GTO Evoluzione is one of the cars to appear quite often in my dreams! :)

    Best

Sorry, no pictures - it was a very busy track day, and there's only so many pictures of cars that one's hard drive can handle!!

There were some awesome cars running though. In no particular order:

    Daytona GT
    250 SWB
    330 LM
    F40
    Porsche 956
    Gumpert Apollo S
    McRae Enduro.

I remember exactly when that happened as the photographer was right in front of my car by Harvey Nichols yesterday as I was leaving Knightsbridge for Oulton Park!

I'll have to change my numberplates.

I'm not sure if owning a McLaren is a good thing at the moment!

The Evo is a proper proper race car, so very different to an F40!

An F40 with a normal driver is probably quicker round a track than the Evo as it is much easier to drive - the boost and the crash gearbox take a long time to get used to in the Evo. However, with a pro driver from that era she would post very very fast lap times.

On the straights she would leave an F40 for dead.......

As for the FXX, things have come a long long way from the Evo, although power-to-weight is probably very similar. Personally, I find track driving requires a huge amount of concentration and effort, and not having to take your hand off the steering wheel to change gear removes one tricky aspect!

4 weeks ago, the fastest I drove the FXX round Mugello was 2:10, and 2:30 for the Evo......... 20 years apart - one second per year!

    James Bond.

DB4 series V (mistakenly referred to as a DB5, but visually indistinguishable!) with machine guns, smoke screen, oil slick, ejector seat AND rotating number plates!

I am hearing that a significant number of cars all developed engine problems at the last meet? Anyone know if this is so?

RTB, I think a Lotus which converts to a submarine would be best to escape those pesky papparazzi!

Have you seen the movie "The spy who loved me" ? :)
