well, today the offseason started to hit st. louis, and it hit pretty hard. walt jocketty is no longer the gm (coincidentally i went to high school with his daughter) and tony larussa has yet to make a decision as to what he'll do. what's going on with everyone else's teams?

Interesting. Tony LaRussa was always in my hometown in California when managing Oakland. One time on a school fieldtrip a kid flipped him off while in my car. He followed us all the way back to our school and told the mother that one of the kid's gave him the one finger salute.....

No it wasn't me. I admired his coaching for the A's, especially during the dominant years of the late 80s-early 90s when my family had season tickets.

Anyways, not much news yet in Oakland, and no news in the Yankee clubhouse.

i've had the opportunity to meet him a couple of times, the first time, i greeted him "hello mr. larussa" and he quickly told me to call him tony. great guy, i'd love to see him back for another couple of seasons, he is THE best manager in the game today.

The Tigers update is this: Leyland signed an extension (through 2009 IIRC), Sean Casey was told he wasn't needed as Carlos Guillen is moving to first, Sheffield is having surgery this offseason, Kenny Rogers will probably be resigned, and Pudge has a $13M contract option the team is deciding on. I am surprised Casey was sent packing...great guy and decent player; he came through at many key times this year. Pudge will probably be back.

Well the Yankees are down but not out.

"Offseason News" for the Yanks. I'm sure you've all heard. Steinbrenner announced that if Joe didn't win today (meaning yesterday) or the series, then he will not be returning next year. What an idiot. Steinbrenner has always done this, getting too involved and stating stuff at the worst time. You don't undermine your manager hours before a game. Now luckly the players got it together and saw it as motivation to not see Torre or Clemens in their last day in a Yankee uniform.

especially in the nl. rockies vs the dbacks? whodathunkit at the beginning of the season? it's going to be fun, hopefully the tribe can keep it going and knock off the sox in the alcs...it'd be nice to see 2 totally different teams in it for once

Look out. There's been talk that LaRussa might go to the Yankees. Him and George Steinbrenner are friends and the timing looks right.

well, tony's back with the cardinals, the yanks are picking a new manager today supposedly, and possibly the biggest name this offseason is now a free agent, any guesses as to where a-rod's gonna go? i'd say it's looking like boston may be the only team willing to pay him the amount he'll command, he opted out of the 252 million dollar contract, but i'd imagine he's still gonna command 25-30 mil a year. insane.
