Some of you guys are getting some amazing shots of cars on the track. Which lenses are you using to get such crisp images?

Its not a quistieon of camera or lens - Its the person behind the camera who do the picture.

Nikon D200 and three lenses, Canon 5D with monster macro. Each serves a different an useful purpose. I also have a Canon 10mp point and shoot for something quick to grab.

    Nikon is fast and sharp.

Canon is warm and has great color rendition in low light.

I use the Nikon for the kid's sports and the Canon for portrait and indoor shots.

    Canon 30D ... 3 different lenses (50mm fixed, 18-55, and 70-200F2.8 IS-L) ... I mostly use the 70-200 if I have a decent area to work with.

This sounds like a good combination. It is still fast with the 1 stop loss using the extender and you don't lose the AF or IS. How do you find the AF speed? Is the image quality close to what you would get with the 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 IS?

Have you tried the 2x extender?
