Have all the spots been taken for the racing? My friend just finished building his car and having it tuned. How lax are they with the tech for this? He has had his door handles shaved so I am not sure if they would let him run..

 

Shaved outer door handles will not preclude you from passing tech inspection...Should not be any problems--Plus they are quite a bit more laxed when it is a rented out Test and Tune session....

 

Is this still a go?? I took leave next Monday to head down there... Will have video camera in hand..

 

I'm in. Will sign up before Thursday. Won't track the 365 GT but will bring the Z06 that's been hotted up. Many fond memories at MIR. Many late Friday nights duking it out with a wide range of folks (teens to gramps). Tons of fun. Rollcage kicks in at 11.5 and under on normal race days. Typically, if you don't demolish the 11.5 they let it slide. Run a 10.2 and it gets their attention though.

 

Couple questions. What time do we launch? What is the plan for bad weather?

That's too bad, I have to be at work.. we just got this company email:
"There have been several inquiries as to whether or not Monday, October 8th (Columbus Day) is a holiday for CGI Federal Members. It is not. ..."

I guess that makes it pretty clear. How long will you guys be there? Maybe I can swing by in the afternoon if I can get off early?

I would like to come and watch since I'm not too far from MIR. Yea, if it's later in the day I would be able to make it to spectate. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to race since my car is at home up in PA.

 

Anybody sure this is still on? and what the times are? Want to sign up but want to make sure we are still on.

 

Mark---I am going to head down around 10am or so---Not sure the times but that should be about when the gates open for normal test and tune sessions

 

I think it's still going on, but I don't see any Ferraris on the list.

What are you planning on tracking?

 

A track event at a drag strip is not like a road course. There will be plenty of track time. Most guys let there cars cool down for a while after a run and there are 2 lanes open at a time, so unless a car throws down some oil or fluid---You can run all 50 cars in less than 30 minutes....I am sure some guys will only make 3-4 passes, while others will want to make 10 passes..

 

Did you find an exact time for the gates to open??

"We have the track from 9am-5pm. Usually the track isnt done being prepped until about 9:30-10ish. There is no set time for people to come to the track nor leave the track (as long as its between 9-5). You can come and go as you please."
