Oh come on. I think the guy is good but this is too much. Maybe if we could have some real passing on the track the sport can save itself.

Now I would like an appology from all the posters on this site that bagged me and continually bag me when I say that LH is Bernie's cash cow and he is only in F1 because Bernie can see the dollars. It's just not right and I still say it will do LH more harm than good in the long term ... unless, like Bernie he is only after some cash .

Bernie could save F1 simply by leaving!

Alonso actually brought the Spanish people into F1, but I guess the British population have more money ... for Bernie!

 

Really? I thought it was because he's an excellent talent that Ron Dennis spent alot of money bringing throught the jr. formula? Yes Bernie can see the dollars, but you can't deny that he was amazing in karts and in the jr. formula. Don't say the only reason he's in f1 is for the money, save that **** for someone like Sato.

 

You are forgetting that Ron wanted to wait another year ... but Bernie pushed Ron. Bernie only does anything if he can make a $.

So yes he has the talent, but Bernie wanting the British pound is why he is there. If he was an American he would not be there simple as that!

If he was American, no one would want to sponsor him like that aside from Rebull. Also, from all I've read, they told him he'd get the seat if he won the GP2 championship, which he did. Also, who was going to get the seat instead? Montoya was out, and De la Rosa surely wouldn't get it.

Basically what Bernie is saying is that the sport needed a hero to replace the void left by Schumi. So they made one in the lab, ehr at

To clarify my position, yes he should be in F1, but he should have been put in a lesser team than McLaren, paid for by Ron to teach him the ropes. This is the norm for a young and new F1 driver. This teaches them to respect the fact that the team are a big part and how to work with the team, etc. As we all now know LH has little respect for anybody else, because he mistakenly believes he is a one man racing team ... very sad.

But Bernie did not want that (i.e LH in a lesser team) because he knew that would not bring in the British money, he needed an instant British audience, thus he was pushed into the dominant McLaren. Now if Jensen had that seat he would be probably staring at a WDC win also, but ofcourse that is not as dramatic as a newbie winning on his first go. It's all a soap opera and Bernie is laughing his way to the bank.

Next year when LH doesn't win ... hmmm poor guy, the bubble has burst. Easily could happen, McLaren make a dud and all of a sudden the golden boy looks like the other F1 drivers ... just like he has during the middle of this season. British audience fade and Bernie looses interest and on to the next investment! Bernie has no right to treat people like that and more importantly OUR sport!

Fair point, BUT, you must recognize the fact that Lewis is always praising the team and using words like "we". He's never cast the team as a seperate entitiy or said that they were working against him, like Alonso did, no matter how lost in translation he may or may not have been. Lewis fully appreciates his situation, that's why the engineers and mechanics always cheer for him when he get the pole or a win.

 

I say bring it to MTV and have 100 reruns of the whole season on weekends during off season. Then log on MTV.com for "all the behind the scenes footage".

I have to agree with you on this one. After what Alonso did to RD my slogan for this year is ABA (Anyone But Alonso).

 

I'll have to listen better next time I hear him speak .

There is a saying that you do not appreciate things until you have had it bad ... somebody please inform me when LH ever had to drive a bad car?, thus how could he possibly appreciate his situation. Other drivers on the grid would just about kill for his path to F1, etc.

oh BTW: if you naively still think the team was evenly behind Alonso and LH then you are forgetting what I have already said, Bernie pushed LH in and Ron's no fool, he also knows how the F1 money tree works. So I myself agree with Alonso that LH got the preferential treatment right from word go.

You guys really should get over the fact that LH has worked hard for what he has achieved. All the experts recon so even ex world champion F1 drivers say the guy has achieved great things, putting aside his historical achievements and broken records. So what qualifies all the haters more so that F1 WCs who know and have been there?? Why dont you F1 arm chair experts just get over it and stop with the hate campaign, its very old.

There is no hate here just discontent with the way F1 is going. By the way of the WDCs can you quote on e that is not British?

Has he worked as hard as say Mansell, Webber, or even Alonso, etc.?

Remember Ron Dennis and McLaren from his karting days have been helping him all the way, ensuring he was in the best team, best cars, etc. Webber and others had Mum and Dad at the beginning and their own jobs, etc. until the sponsors got reluctantly interested. LH is the only driver that has been completely funded (I believe) since his karting days by a person who really understands the sport, etc.

Yes Senna and some others had it easy too, because they had money, but please don't say LH worked hard for what he has achieved. Again how would he now what hard means?. Nigel Mansell for example feed himself and his wife by visiting different friends every day of the week, basically free loading until he got his break. They sold their house EVERYTHING to get into F1 ... where is the LH parallel?

If you can prove this I will appologise to LH (in this thread) and leave it be.

never knew that about Nigel, makes a lot of sense in hindsight as to how he drove, I loved it, he was a great driver

the one quote I liked of Schumi's was where he stated when asked if he was the best driver in the world, that the best driver in the world hasn't had chance to get behind the wheel, very humble of him I thought and I didn't even like him

You are misunderstanding me. When somebody says LH has worked hard to get where he has got I have to say BS. I am not talking about the driving, all drivers enjoy that part and that really is a very small part of becoming a professional race driver. The hard part is to get somebody else to pay for it, LH didn't have to worry about that because (I believe) Ron did. Now for everybody else that is a massively hard issue.

Many kids have got backing. They all dont race on shoe string budgets you know. There are alot of talented drivers who have financial backing. They just cant cut the grade.
