What was your delivery miles?

What was your Delivery miles when you took delivery of your new F car? I hear ferrari does 40/60 miles on them in the factory track and on roads?

 

Correct........mine had 75kms (abt. 47 miles).

 

40 miles.... all on the track. Forget about break-in procedures....it's already been done on the track!

Just go easy on the brakes and tires for the first couple hundred miles....

Cool....so its not unusual to see 60-80km on the ODO! I was a bit sus about seeing this figure thinking the dealer would have done some trips with my Car!! Ha...ha..

 

About 40 miles on my 430.

Cannot always equate miles with "break in". The dynamometer and "track" may not (I suspect it varies) permit all parts to seat/seal. Driving a car under "load" is different than running it on a dyno. When starting life with a new motor, it is a good idea for you and the motor and mechanicals in general, to get "acqauinted" (each "learning" about the other). Nothing to lose but patience. Best

 

45 miles on my new 430... be sure to let the engine come up to temp before beating on it.

I know others have covered this topic before, but "breaking-in" a modern factory sports car engine is not required. At the Ferrari factory, the 8 cylinder engines are run for an hour on the test bench (screaming inside a sound insulated dyno chamber) and the 12 cylinder engines are run-in for 3 hours. Then, believe me, the test drivers run the snot out of the new cars in and around Maranello on shake down drives. You can see and hear the parade the new cars getting rung-out every day, rain or shine. In the old days of "break-in" the last thing you wanted to do was run a synthetic oil as that might prevent the rings from ever seating....now days all Ferrari, Porsche, etc. are delivered with the finest synthetic oils. Baby the car if it buys you some peace of mind, but someone else has already run the piss out of it!!
