Interesting and I agree that body language often speaks louder than transfer denials.

I'm still hopeful for an Alonso vs Massa swap, but I don't think that's gonna happen.

Is, Yes I can agree with most of that.

I,am not a blinkered LH fan and at the start of the season I was (yes he's good but ok lets's see) but somewhere in the middle of the season I really thought hell he's got the lot.
Then on here it seemed IMO a bit like the press here, they talk you up big time then love hacking you down into bit's.

I don't think he has said to much out of line and I don't really go for sweet and innocent humble types anyway, although I do agree it could backfire singing your own praises.

I also think as a ,dare I say "rookie" he has been thrown in the deep end big time with whats gone on this year and to be frank a team mate who has not liked being beat to say the least at his own game on of track.

Yes Mclaren last race totally agree boneheads and IMO a 50:50 call who's fault it was Lewis driving as if his life depending on it no need!! EGO out of control, Mclaren making the wrong call leaving him out.

But still that's why I like F1 Great last race and I do want a red car to win..:)

Massa would only improve McLaren, as he is a very good number #2 driver, and doesn't seem to mind that role.

I don't think either Kimi or Alonso would be happy being #2.

How about simply swapping RD (Rotting Douchbag) for Mr.Toad? :p

I agree with both comments. I didn't mean a literal swap of Alonso vs Massa. I meant Massa out and Alonso in. I guess that's called a swap out rather than a swap. :)

I just want to see Alonso in a Ferrari, that's all. Not necessarily a rational wish, but one from the heart. :) Unlike most on here, I happen to actually like Alonso. He is a lot like Prost. For better or worse.

I can't say I'm an Alonso fan, but I don't hate him. I think his ego is no bigger than that of MS or Senna, and he hasn't tried to run as many people off the track as either of them did....at least not yet...

A case of heart ruling the head :D

Actually I really can't make my mind up with it ,but in one way just like to see what happens if he did.
Someone said he would have to toe the line at Ferrari but I just would'nt want to see Kimi dealing with him I like him better.
It,s hard for him to smile when he's happy gotta love him though swiggin pop on the podium..then mumblin in the interviews.

LH driving all out even when he didn't have to ? Hmmm.... Reminds me of another one with the initials GV.

I'd be more than happy to see 2 red and one silver car in parc ferme, no particular order, if one FAlonso witnesses the ceremony from a pit row trailer TV.

And they put themselves on track with other Super-egos and compete in lightweight 200MPH 700HP open wheel rocketships.
Show me a timid driver and I'll show you a spectator.

About the age thing; with any luck you will get there. Some speak from experience not "if only".

Prost didn't drive "balls out", and he won how many championships, by finishing in the top 3 almost every race??

PS: 30 is old? I have T-shirts older than that! :p

What a race! Please forgive me for not scrolling through 19 pages (I am at work ;) ), so some of this may be redundant.

I thought Peter Windsor was a bit of a sh!thead asking Wurz if he was fired seconds before he gets into the car. What an idiot! Keanu is even more of an idiot in realtime than on the screen, and that's hard to do!

Massa somehow just HAD to get by FA after his 2nd pitstop heavy and on cold tires. Couldn't get it done, but he almost had him...

LH's ego got in the way and Kimi played him like a fiddle. Almost as good as the sucker punch FA gave Massa at turn one to repass on the inside. I was actually stunned that they couldn't find someway of getting LH out of the gravel. Hell, they used a crane before to keep him going. I'm sure I wasn't the only one hoping the seconds would race by and quickly make it irrelevant! You could really hear it in the SpeedTV announcer's voices how disappointed they were.

Didn't Schummy battle with Heidfeld towards the end of the season, and instead of letting him by and taking 4th on shot tires it cost him bigtime? The red mist...

Kudos to STR. Vettel is really making Scott Speed look bad. Will the US ever have a contender?

LH must get pole next race, or it's REALLY going to be dicey. Kimi and FA know that LH has to give, so they are going to stick their nose in anywhere, all the time.

Please, please, please....let's have LH coming out of 3rd pitstop heavy on fuel with cold tires, FA goes to risk it all at T1 and takes them both out and Kimi cruises to a win and 2007 WDC!

Then, all would be right again...;)

Here's the race report from my Monday morning newspaper:

"Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari won the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, while Lewis Hamilton of McLaren missed his chance to become the first rookie to win by gambling on one lap too many on bad tires, finishing third."

    Uh-huh....

David, not to be picky but GV did not drive all out when he didn't have to. Please remember his last race and the reason Didier got around him. Being the good teammate, he also drove 'slow' at times for the team not to disobey orders....
But I know what you meant, ie: fight for a 9th.....

Oh, Oh. I must have missed that conversation. No one was pulling for Scott to do well more than me. What drive and commitment towards achieving a drive in F1. But he almost didn't get a second year, and now he's in the ARCA (?) series....and JV's racing trucks! Vettel and Bourdais will have the also benefit of A. Newey design trickle down effect for next year. 4th layer donned....:)

Sounds like Graham Rayhal and Marco Andretti are poised for a leap in the next coule years. We'll see.

I remember hearing that Renault said mid-season they were stopping development of the '07 car to focus on next year. Then Heiki gets second in Japan. Maybe they should just stop all together! (that's a joke! - 5th layer?). I actually believe that part of the reason they made that announcement was to entice Alonso, thinking that the '08 Renault would have the longest development time.

I really don't see LH leaving McLaren for several years. The Dark Side has WAY too many years invested in that one.

I was wondering what happened to you. Glad you are OK and it was only a phone line. With this crazy season, I am not sure who RD wants. Both drivers pissed him off so it really depends who could help the team more next year. It seems to me that as good as Lewis is, he may not have the experience yet, to develop the car. So maybe a deal was already made to keep Alonso as the #1 driver?.... I know crazy talk!

I thought that was very obvious at the Fuji GP when Alonso crashed: They showed the reaction of the McLaren mechanics and they couldn't care less.

Thanks for the thoughts Tony. i think, it was a crazy race. pretty boring at first, then when Hammi started losing time, things started to heat up. pity Massa couldn't hold Alonso off for a nice 1-2 again for the Scuderia. he looked as he's was nursing the car around, till the last part where he started to put in some great laps.

i really think Kimi has the thing to become a WDC next year, if not this year. he drove a very controlled race, barely made a mistake, and took care of his tyres. again, a great performance from him.

Vettel..OTOH, bloody hell...twice he did very well in tricky conditions suggest that Fuji was no fluke for him. i did have some pity for him after he smashed into Webber, but he learnt his lesson well. his overtakings were neat, and looked like he's racing in F1 for over 10 years. i do hope the Scuderia will keep an eye for him the next 3-5 years.

yes, but that was more extreme conditions. could have happened to anyone. but beached in the pitlane...goodness..Ron's hand antics explains it all. seriously, if i were Alonso, WDC or no WDC this year, i would surely look somewhere else next season.
