She's here, she's here! Nearly a month after completing the deal, my (new) 1984 Mondial has arrived! The worst thing about waiting through the major service and transportation was how much $ I could spend without even having the car. I now have replacement top toggles(just-in-case), front vent replacement, 348 wheels ready for switchover from the TRXs and assorted 1984 sales brochures. Oh, yes, I've got it bad. The Mondial is the model that I've always wanted. Our 7yo daughter already loves 'her' back seat - but has also asked that I set up speakers in the back for her *sigh*.

She (the car, not my daughter) was bought sight-unseen from Cavallino Motors. Martin has been great to work with, and very patient with a first-time owner.

I really appreciated the FerrariChat forum where opinions and advice are readily available. I have even stopped lurking and started participating a few weeks back.

Thanks to all for the advice and encouragement. Yes, pictures are attached...

Bob, if you're not already connected, you should hook up with our local Ferrari club in Charlotte called CAFE (Charlotte Area Ferrari Enthusiasts). Shoot me a PM, and I can get you added to our email list. It's just a bunch of Ferrari owners and car guys/gals that get together for informal lunches, drives, cookouts, etc. around Charlotte. We have quite a few members, but I'm not aware of anyone active in our club with a Mondial other than a fellow named Nate who lives near Boone, NC. He brings his down to Charlotte every now and then. Congrats!!!

Thanks for all the kind comments. The car is working out just fine. The weather this weekend has been terrific - perfect for driving around. Even better, today was a holiday so I got to play even more. First thing this morning I took off the distributor caps and cleaned the contacts as Martin suggested. What a difference that made on startup and running. My wife closed up early and we drove 30 twisting back-road miles to an auto supply store (yes, there was a Wal-Mart 2 miles away, but, gee...) for some A/C refrigerant..it's icy cold now, even in 90 degrees. Had to be pretty well behaved, though, as I discovered that the cigarette lighter isn't a power supply for a radar detector.

Check under the dash, maybe there is one. I remember one of my older Ferraris had one, but I don't remember which model it was.

    Hi Bob,

Lovely Mondial QV Cabriolet! Well done! Here's a link to the registry:

As for the cigarette lighter, I removed mine (keeping all the parts) and replaced them with two cigarette lighters from the auto parts store. (There are 2 cigarette lighters in the center console.) The replacements are standard US style cigarette lighters so all the accessories (radar detector, GPS Nav) will plug into them. They can be had for $12 each at your local Kragen, Pep Boys, Autozone, etc.

Congrats on the gorgeous Mondi! It was said elsewhere, but everytime someone posts a 'new car' thread, it brings back that feeling like mine showed up yesterday. Its a really cool thing that people just can't grasp unless they have been there.
    Drive in good health!
