A friend of mine has a 246 GTS and the right side mirror broke off. Any recommendations as to a good source for replacement? Thanks in advance for the replies.
Readily available from most of the guys listed in the sticky up top on where to find parts. Dennis McCann www.allferrariparts.com www.superformance.co.uk www.dioparts.de just to name a couple Also on ebay all the time. However, the car didn't leave the factory with a passenger side mirror. Might be the perfect opportunity to repair the door, patch the holes, and put it back to factory spec. Probably only cost a couple grand Or, spend $80 and put a mirror back on. Dave
Do Dinos have mirrors on the Passenger side? or was this a case where someone bought a second driver's side mirror and mounted it there? There are a batch of good repros out there and they can be had for about $80 if you watch eBay. The only way to tell them apart from the originals is that some casting details are slightly less clear and the standoff shaft is not smooth but tapped like the thread on a bolt.
Didn't Shawn post some photos of factory cars, still in the factory, with two mirrors?? I've never seen that in a book as standard, but who knows? Also, from a concours perscpective, it should not be a deduction, as it is additional safety equip. and allowed, just like modern tires and new seat belts. DM
usually dinos came without mirrors!!!! The Daytona Mirror was placed on the cars by concessionaries as Daytonas had them at the time.In fact the so called dino Mirror is a Daytona Mirror. See the original Dino Parts books ,The mirror part is not mentioned or drawn. A daytona Nos Mirror costs 220 euros and I have them in Stock. Not many of them left!!! repros cost $80 but why put garbage on the dino when you can get NOS????
some dino's came with mirrors, some didn't. some did have factory installed mirrors on both the drivers and passenger sides. there were several mirror styles too. the round one, the rectangle one, and possibley more.
My '74 GTS (US) has two round ones, and the original owner told me they both came on the car, but the right one never quite lined up properly to use. Still true! (I could shim it, but then it wouldn't be "original", right?)
