i hope not, but then its an idiots car isnt it.
4 times the price of an LP640 for the addition of a nasty bodykit, trick instruments and a blueprinted engine
well its true then - some ppl do have more money than sense.

    Nick,

I doubt that even one actual car exists yet (all we've seen so far is the "show car"). It isn't reliably confirmed that they have sold more than a few and this might just be someone's bravado, hoping to generate some interest.

Possibly a buyer with "cold feet" trying to get out without losing money.

Now that the "Embolado" has emerged (ROFL) who would want that other thing?

but if i could i wouldnt -for that money i could have the following 3 cars (or close to)

    a "normal" LP640
    288 GTO
    Miura SV

now to me thats a no brainer.

oh and i fail to see your point.

Then it's fine if I say you are an ignorant klutz for dissing an automobile and the individuals that have put together a world for themselves where they can afford something rare and exclusive like a Reventon.

i think your missing the point.
the Reventon is being heralded as this great new lambo - and put bluntly it is not - its pretty undeniable that it is in fact simply a Murcielago with a bodykit and a trick set of dash clocks.
as such it is not and never will be worth 4 times the price of a normal LP640 and imo anyone who decides to buy one is a fool. (based on the well known phrase " a fool and his money are easily parted")

now if you or anyone else wants to go and buy one then thats your perogative and good luck to you - but pls dont think your buying anything more than a $400k car along with $1.1M of hype, which imo makes the buyer (at the very best) shall we say "misguided"

I think it is you who is missing the point. Do you know how much this Picasso sold for? The fact that you might not like it does not mean it doesn't have value to the owner. He paid $104m for it.
And knowing a bit about art,the person who did pay that for it did that because #1 He could..and #2 because he appreciated the work.

how is a painting the same as a car ?
a car has the primary purpose of being ........................ well a car - eg transportation.
now if its a lambo/ferrari etc it does that with the added bonus of being alot quicker and hopefully better looking etc
if its a rolls royce then its still the same purpose but with the added bonus of being more comfortable and stylish (in theory)
but either way its still a car.

a painting has but one purpose - to be looked at.
thats it, nothing more nothing less.

bottom line - a car whilst it can be good looking is not Art.
as a well established member on here says "if you want to look at one then buy a poster"

anyways i have a question for you.
do you think the Reventon is what i suggested - eg a Murcielago with bodykit and trick instruments ?
or do you truly feel it is this special new car that Lambo are claiming it is?

Reventon is commercially "derivative", the Picasso is an original work, it's value has grown over time.

It comes down to this; the buyers of the Reventon have a **** load of money and they dont mind spending extra for the special edition.. I would assume most of the people complaining about it are not in that finanical position and dont care for it being special edition... I am not in that financial position as well...

It is a special car for a special buyer... that is the only reason 20 were made and not 2000...
No it doesnt make sense to pay 1 million extra for a car, but if you think about it neither does paying 400k...

Let the buyers be happy, they have money let them enjoy it...
If I was worth 50 mill, I wouldnt mind dropping a lousy 1.4 for a car to add to my collection...

Certainly,I agree..but 104 million for a single painting... Picasso did many paintings over his career.
There will be 20 of these Reventons for the entire world.

and several thousand Murcielagos (which is what the Reventon basically is)
