Name calling is name calling and I'd ban anybody for those exchanges. But you have to see them to react. I don't read all the threads. Actually only a handful and if I don't catch something like this as it happens I would leave it alone.

Ashsimmonds has rarely if ever contributed anything useful to this thread and his entire post was just acid. It was name calling and trolling at the same time: Pantera is starting a great debate about Ultimas and he just pisses all over it. He was lucky to have received a short ban as he was a first time offender on my list.

Moretti: You as a former mod should know, that there are many mods for any given forum. If you think some name calling was overlooked, don't call me bias, but call other mods and ask them to act on it (although I would have too in that case). I'm just one of many mods on here.

Read the whole statement including the flapping gums and the idiocy statement towards somebody who actually knows a good deal about replicas. You don't see the hatred, the name calling and the trolling in that?

The point of this thread is not to belittle replicas, but to have a serious discussion about them. We can laugh at bad ones, but this is not a venue to let your hate run free.

For some obvious reasons there is no separate forum for replicas on FChat. This thread is the only official place to discuss them. Contribute or leave.

And just to make this clear: I have no problem with somebody being against replicas. But you have to stick to real arguments in the discussion. Mud slinging doesn't qualify.

 

I've known Andreas personally for a number of years, and I know him to have always been a just, fair and gracious man.

Don't argue whether you think he made a right or wrong decision. He believes he made the right decision. Andreas does not do things out of spite or anger!!

Live with his decision; he didn't inflict a lifetime ban.........

Atleast this isn't the kind of forum where they ban you just for arguing with each other. He attacks you, you attack back if you want thats what I do 90% of the time if the other guy is intellegnt and is getting to the point. otherwise make him feel stupid by replying in intellgent answers let his anger get the best of him and let him practically ban himself.

I think we left off at Ultima GTR and whether it could actually eat Ferraris for breakfast or not. Does anybody have a track time somebody set with that car?

They have a video that will shock most people on there.

It leaves the C5 in a 1/4mile run as if it was standing still.

There's a video of this racing a noble somewhere but while its on the move it smokes a few porsches and evos along the way.

 

And while we're on the subject of 'crappy replicas' ....

I'd like to point out that the original designer and manufacturer of the Ultima was Lee Noble, and that the Noble P4 'kit-car' replicas he produced used a slightly modified version of the Ultima chassis (if not a twin-turbo big block Chevy).

..... do we have to have that discussion? The Ultima cannot be compared with an off the shelf Ferrari - Except maybe a Stradale or Enzo, but then you've got the "bang-for-buck" counter argument - and round-and-round the argument goes.

... why not stick with the crappy replicas - which we all agree are a joke.

Also consider that cars like the Ultima, GTM, Noble and the like are not replicas of anything, but original designs. Fantastic cars IMHO.

 

So, I was called "clueless" and "ignorant" by someone who's saying dumb things about modern exotics and can't get a grip on what I'm actually saying, instead telling me I'm talking about something else completely. I can't help that someone has a comprehension problem and then says "Before you open your mouth" failing badly to give a lesson on intelligent conversation, my reaction was just fine under the circumstances.

I can't help it that Pantera says stupid things all the time, occasionally I just laugh and think "what an idiot" but sometimes you just have to ask what on earth someone is talking about when they're just saying stuff that has no basis in reality.

I'm not against replicas. You say you've seen me do nothing useful here, I've been contributing to this thread for over three years and you have no idea what you're talking about. I can't help it that things go downhill when people start saying dumb stuff.

This is a sad sale of a winter project that I now can not fulfill due to unforeseen circumstances.

This car actually started life as a 1986 X1/9 VS. In 1989 she was radically reshaped using mainly aluminium. The nose is very well done in composite material, the rear in aluminium. Mechanically she is as standard. After her conversion & for the next 15 years she spent a pampered life with not a night spent ungaraged. In this time she covered less than 40000 miles. She now has over 46000 miles recorded & believed genuine. There are lots of old Mots & receipts.

She is fitted with very nice Compomotive alloys, these must be worth £250 alone!. Some tyres look very good.

This car is now in need of a fellow enthusiast to take on a restoration that is required & return her to her former glory. Be of no doubt, this car needs restoration. The engine turns but does not start. She requires amongst other things, a screen surround & sills doing. The interior, although a bit dirty, looks as though it will clean up well. The rear lights are genuine Ferrari Mondial units as are other items such as badges & the gear lever 'H' gate.

The previous owner is a Ferrari nut as can be seen. There are Maranello signs on the number plates as well as other places. The last 2 photos are of the car soon after conversion.

Haven't seen any crappy kitcars lately, none of them seem to make it beyond the driveway, notice how many are for sale "95% complete!!!", wonder why that is...

I saw a dodgy looking lime green Fiero a couple weeks ago, they are rare cars over here, only see a couple per year. No doubt it will end up as a crappy replica.

I wouldn't say it was beautiful. Look at the rust around the windshield. Unfortunately the X's were prone to it......
