What was your evolution to ferrari starting from your first sports car? Not really interested in the beaters from when you were 17, I mean from your first decent car that cost some coin.

For me it was BMW coupe, Porsche C4 and now 360 and I am sure after I get bored with this I will be looking higher up the food chain.

I can see that for me each stage needs "courage", for the lack of a better word, to spend more. For me it was 28k, 60k, 100k euros. At each level I remember thinking "that is too much for a car" but after purchase you drive it and look for something more expensive.

I've had several Porsches but none honestly worth mentioning.
Still haven't made the move to F-cars.

    Guess I haven't evolved yet. :(

Volkswagen Diesel Rabbit was the car. Wouldn't pull the guts out of a dead cat. Had a Rolls Canardly engine; Rolls down one hill and can hardly make it up the next.

    5 different Corvettes

    Subaru WRX Sti.

2 NSXs, a fantastic car and Ferrari should be thankful they are not presently building a replacement :)

    2 Porsches, most recently a 997 Carrera S.

Aluminum Cobra Replica, scary fast. Still own it.

2 Lamborghini Gallardos, most recently a special order '06.

2 Ford GT's, presently own an '06. Fantastic car and a keeper.

1 AMAZING '07 F430 Coupe. The best yet!

(Plus a couple of bullet bikes, most recently an R1. Wife says no bikes)

FY. What do you expect? Of course you go looking further up the food chain, not down. Part of buying a car is A) Because it is good to drive B) Because of the pose factor. Mordalo, I expect you pretend that you are a "real entusist" and above us all because you change your own engine oil or something.

    why so glum, chum?

most people who want a ferrari cannot afford one as their first car... so they end up with many other cars until they get their first ferrari.

    there's nothing wrong with that..

First it was a Datsun 510 the neighbor gave me and my brother, we were far away from 16 at the time, but still drove it around. Then it was a Posche 944, '83 Porsche 928S in '87 and I was 16, then a 3.2 Carrera and finally the 328GTS at 20.

2007... probably an Alfa 147 3.2V6 GTA soon
2008... planning a Ferrari F430 if all goes to plan...

On top of these I've flirted with many Maseratis - since 2002 I've spent many happy miles on Maserati Spyder, Coupe, Gransport and this summer a Quattroporte Automatica. All great cars but they need another 100HP to win my heart over again from Ferrari...
