Replicar or Kitcar its still shares the same concept of a supercar in the box regardless if its a fiero based lambo, MR2 based ferrari, cobra, solid sterling, or Ulimta or even the P4 replica's its still the same concept just slightly diffrent.

Could the Ultima be compared to an Enzo? Probably not but if Top gear wants to a match up an Mitsu EVO on steriods up against a lamborghini Murcielago off the showroom floor which isn't a special model I may add then why not see what the Ultima is capable of against world class exotics. If Hennessey wants to showcase one of his highly modified Viper up against the worlds fastest production vehicle then i don't see why there shouldn't be any buzz if the Ultima could be fair up against the Enzo.

But if you inisist the Ultimas only serious competetion should be, Mosler Photon 900TT, Factory five GTM, Gaira or whatever its called from japan, Noble GT1even the worlds fastest car the SSC Ultimate aero is the only true competetor for the GTR in terms of production.

Point is, for every kitcar that's actually being driven everyday, there's probably 50 abortions in sheds and on lawns, and 20 of those are for sale listed at a high % of completeness.

I almost never see an ad for a kitcar that says "drive away, nothing to be done" like you can expect with a real car.

You seriously need to check yourself before you try and check someone else.

I in no way didn't say anything "Stupid" about any modren day exotic except they are indeed unfriendly cause they are, Iam stating the facts and I have friends who own "Modren day exotics" who even state it themselves that these cars can easly slip away from them and here you are talking s*** personally as if I insalited your religous believes or something. Not only that then you break out with the flamethrower without a ligit reason to do so.

You say I say stupid things all the time and yet your slowly becoming the one whos ignorant and clueless of whats going on in this tread also you have become the laughing stock in this tread, not the crappy kitcars.

So where do we go from here?. I say lets get back to business get this tread back on track but if you insist it just shows how childish and idiotic you really can be sometimes.

I saw that, it just doesn't make sense in the comparison. An actual P4 replica compared with a Fiero with a bodykit and some tickling of the engine?

what is "unfriendly" about modern day exotics ?

you have me intrigued as Ferrari has been making the cars even more user-friendly now than they ever have, friend of mine said his 360 was the best car ever when he picked it up in '01 and he is VERY particular about his cars

Apart from power to weight these "other" cars are not in the same league as the exotic manufacturers with all the development they put into them, the number of designers and engineers who spend years perfecting each component and yet some backyard yahoo can make a comparable car with a "how to make my car handle" book in one hand and fibreglass in the other ??

I don't think you've been in a modern day exotic or you may not make these kind of statements, the quality alone is a telling feature

PLEASE guys..... we were having fun taking the piss out of crappy replicas......the whole remainder of the site is pretty much dedicated to discussing the virtues of modern exotics..... this corner of the forum has been set aside to discuss crappy replicas - no more name calling and no more discussing exotic cars............. more Sh8tboxes please.

What I mean by unfriendly is the car sliped away from them and they could have lost there lives or crashed it. Most Supercars are great and fun to drive but if you let them get away from you by not having total control over the car it bites back. A friend of mine discribes when he first drove his RT-10 that if you let it get away from you for just a second the snake will bite you, he made a turn alittle to hard and resulted in him spinning out right in the intersection. Now I can blame this on the driver but I sometimes turn hard at a corner and it doesn't result in me spinning out.

The Ultima GTR is engineered like any other Supercar on the market and the same goes for cars like the factory fiive GTM and the sakercars, extc.extc. they design the chassis, body and the only thing you build practically yourself besides putting the car together is the powerplant. If some ricer can build a 10second Civic in his garage while taking the nightshift at Micky Dee's than I don't see why one could build a respectable track car using a kitcar as the weapon of choice.

Think about this, kitcars aren't production cars and theres no rules or regs most importantly no standards of how a production model would perform if it where stock. Only god would know what a fiero based Lamborghini replica with a chevy 454 pushing out 600hp backed by a G50 tranny is capable of. You put that same setup in a typical fiero and you'll be running in the low 11's all day long so just think of that in a replicar. Theres more to making a fiero into a lamborghini than just givin APC a call and getting a cheap bodykit.

Weither its a full tube P4 replica or a fiero based lambo or a VW based solid sterling they are all kitcars/replicars.

I don't care if you put 50,000 horsepower in a breadbox on wheels, a car that's built by some guy in a hobbyshed has next to zero $ spent on R&D. You CAN go fast in one, but if you tell me to jump in the and go for a burn in a car that you built I'll politely tell you where to go.

When I'm doing 150-200mph in a Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche - believe me I am putting a lot of confidence in the capabilities of that car and for the $millions spent on designing the car to be capable of that.

we're clearly on different planets, all the guys I know with exotics know how to drive and the only time they "get away from you" is when your aspirations exceed your ability.

I've driven a few Cobra replicas and they're all crap, there may be a good one out there but on the whole they are put together very shabbily .

Here's an effort by some guy who really wanted a TR

I have driven a continuation Cobra and it was all crap. I'm starting to think that the glorified rides from the sixties really weren't all that great compared to today's standards. Similar argument holds for the seventies btw.

Regarding Pantera's argument of loosing exotics on the edge:

    - I think driving aids have come a long way and should never be turned off. I also think that is where the advantage over the home builts really lies until somebody comes up with those electronics for the DIY crowd.

    - The one thing a car like the Ultima has over an Enzo or a 430 is that it uses conventional wings. I'm a strong believer in those as aerodynamic aids over undertray downforce: Undertray downforce is great on the racetrack where you drive in a controlled environment, but real life streets and roads have bumps etc and once you loose that downforce, you loose the ride. Time and again I have seen 360, 430 and Enzos crash due to bumps and loss of downforce. You wouldn't have that problem with a big wing like on the Ultima.

For one thing he's talking about a convertible Viper - hardly a modern exotic, it's a wobbly bodyshell with a truck engine in it and technology that would make a guy in a tractor think he's gone back to the 60's.

When I talk about modern sportscars I'm thinking Gallardo, F430, GT3... If you come to grief in one of these outside of a racetrack scenario then you are driving WAY beyond your abilities and it's better for all of us that you're not on the road/planet.

All you need to loose a F430 is a bump in the road. Schwedenkreuz at the Nuerburgring would do the job. As we have sadly witnessed here on FChat (granted that was a 360 but the effect with a 430 would be the same).

Look, like I said you have to be going pretty hard to do that, and you have to be pretty dam unlucky. It's not like a simple bump in the road will send you straight to the scene of an accident, I've spent a bit of time over 250kph in these things on not the best roads and they are great machines, you just have to not be a tosser in them and drive beyond your and the cars capabilities.

BTW it's really getting on my nerves the whole "loose" thing... loose is like when a girl has pink bits like sleeve of wizard.

This is what happens when you find a bump at 280kph in a Gallardo - in this case we were spectacularly lucky to come out with just dirty panties:

Now iam understanding where your coming from interms of "I paid a million dollars for this, it better perform" I would have a ton of confidence driving a lamborghini at 200mph with no problems. But sadly there are some bad apples in the tree sometimes :( I have heard some awfull storys of people who buy these cars and everything from engine mailfuntions to one guy in the middle east his engine blew in his murcielago while going 140+ and the car rolled 6times leaving him crippled. Iam not saying anything bad about these companys in fact there's many products out there that cost millions to design and once in a while you'll find a flaw here and there, Look at the F/A-22, there's been a couple crashes due to machinical failure and the plan hasn't even entered service yet. With kits it really depends on how you wanna do things, one might want speed and only speed and his main focus would be to get the biggest motor he can get and drop it in his kit. Another one might be looking for just the looks of a car and wants a nice cuirser for him and maybe his wife for the weekends so performance might not be a priority. Guys like me and you might want both, thats great but all and all its gonna cost you some big bucks to build something thats gonna ride like a caddillac, be reliable as a toyota and yet but powerfull like a modren day supercar. Its very possible to build just that.

Kits is a mixture of a Supercar/tunercar. you get the benfits of a tunercar with the looks of a supercar.

    Hardly a modren exotic?

let me ask you this, how many vipers do you see on a daily basis?. unless you live in Michagn, you probably wouldn't see them everyday and I rarely see those cars running around on a common comute. I won't change the subject of is the viper a true exotic because its wearing dodge badge but the truth is it looks like a duck, acts like a duck, quacks like a duck!.

My friend has taken his dodge out to the track and raced some of those exotics you have mentioned and he still says the snake bits if you let it get away from you. Convertable Viper? Ha! think again, hes got an ACR which is a hardtop. Hardtop or not they are very sexy.

The Ultima has the edge over practically anything else at the track simply because its a kitcar, you can adapt to any situation that is thrown at you pretty much except a railrace.

This thread is WAY off track and turning into a bullsh$t fest..... Drive ANYTHING at 200mph and you're asking for trouble. If there is an accident it is most likely going to be road conditions or driver error..... the examples given all pretty much say that (except for the merc engine blowing up - but who knows whether that involved some driver error anyway - and that was another "I heard of a guy" story anyway)

.... but this will never be a problem in a CRAPPY REPLICA anyway as I its unlikely that the crappy ones will do 20mph let alone 200mph.... and what the hell does the performance of an exotic have to do with a crappy replica anyway.

What a complete load of rubbish. What the hell does that mean?

I'm pretty sure that morphing is not an option on the Ultima (and I should know)........I have no idea what a railrace is but I would expect that if a morphing function was available, they would certainly take into account ALL situations, even railracing.

    MORE CRAPPY REPLICAS PLEASE
