In order to be certain that McLaren does not show favoritism to Hamilton, an FIA official will oversee all McLaren activity during the weekend, including the race, to ensure that both drivers Alonso and Hamilton are treated equally.

Not a bad idea. Might shut Alonso up and actually ensure equal chance to both drivers.

RD must love the idea of a babysitter...:)

Absolutely pathetic situation. If nothing else, this just goes to bolster the notion that both drivers should have been tossed from the championship to avoid this embarassment for both F1 and McLiaren .

Actually it is not a big deal:

There are lots of FIA officials in the pits all the time with all teams: They check tires (each tire has a serial number assigned to a driver for a weekend) and engines etc. One more person barely makes a difference. Just the idea is funny.

I think this is an embarassment to F1. It appears the Spanish WMSC delegate expressed concern and this is the FIA's response.

I personally think the FIA should butt out of intra-team policies. That Mosley threatened McLaren if they retaliate against Alonso or DLR in any way is absurd. This is just more lunacy on top of what's already happened this year. As they said in the PitPass article, did Schumi get watchers making sure Barrichello had a fair shake too? No, and they shouldn't - because it was Ferraris decision alone to manage their drivers how they see fit.

Seems to me another case of FA 's extreme paranoia.

AND I don't like the idea of the FIA sticking there noses in team business I can't remember this happening before but I 'am sure I will be corrected.... Andrea's ?

But if it that's what it takes so be it..

What does he expect,: I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

I haven't seen that either. It is just another attempt by Mosley to get even with RD.

I can't wait for the day somebody, anybody will take over from Mad Max.

Yes but since then Team orders have been ruled illegal as it was made obvious that it hurt the sport ( Not sure how illegal they were before ).

Like I said one has to wonder what is going on. With all the FIA monkeys around checking serial #s on tires then why didnt any of them tell Ferrari that they had the wrong tires on? Hmmmmmm
Also makes you wonder how much Alonshole cried to get the FIA in to watch.

The FIA personnel make sure that a tire that is being selected to go onto a particular car, belongs to that driver on that weekend. They use hand scanners to do that by reading the serial number off the tire. The tires on the Ferraris at Fuji were legal. They just put them on in the wrong moment, but that's not what the tire FIA agent checks.

McLaren was cited, fined and dismissed with. Its time FIA moves on and stops with this persecution.

I am not a McLaren fanboy by any means but this meddling seems to have gone too far. I thought they got rid of Balestre for that reason - he become too god like in his heavyhanded ways.

Back to racing and limited to none FIA involvement. Please!

oh .. and Kimi Raikonnen 2007 WDC after Hamilton and Alonso crash in Brazil ... we can at least hope :D :D

...what he meant was that IF there was an official walking around prior to the start -and even if the mail had been sent- the officer in the the Ferrari box must have made sure they had the full rain tire, coded correctly to go with the car...I still believe that was very gray...

I am not convinced that team orders hurt the sport, why have teams, let each constructor have one car and team orders are gone. For example, last week in China, Ferrari used Massa to see how new tires would work. That really hurt Massa's chances at P1 and helped Kimi. It is like the sacrifice fly (or bunt) in baseball (another team sport).
