First off, I don't buy this ranking at all.

but, does anyone know how this is determined?

How can the two time WDC Alonso not be considered number 1 until he is dethroned? And how can Kimi be considered number 1 until he wins a WDC? SPEED is wrong on this one...at least for now...

It's all subjective. Get another group of "know it alls" and "insiders" and the list will change.

It's based on current year results, last 10 races, last five races and last race are factored in equally, with an adjustment factor to compensate for the series different scoring systems. In addition, a competition difficulty factor has been included to balance the competitive depth of each series.

AGREED ! ! Yet another meaningless list of who really gives a **** about their bias preferences. Speed would be better advised to utilize their time doing program development than this malarky.
Some of the endurance drivers are far superior to most on the list - Allan for a start.

I hope no one gets offended by this, but exactly what driver skill does NASCAR require?

You drive in an oval at over 230mph on tracks that don't restrict speed. It's like a really long drag race, except you have to get around the other cars.

F1 is where it's at. I wish America would realize that.

Pardon me if I offend anyone. I just don't see any driving skill involved in NASCAR. It's a joke.

+1, it requires zero skill. How do you think that Scott Speed, Villeneuve, and JPM all have jobs already in Nascar. Honestly all you really do is just turn left, I can't see much more skill involved.

Well I would say most of the skill is involved in the drafting/passing and blocking. Not to mention dodging people who spin or hit the wall. It certainly can't compare to an F1 grand prix, but the races can get pretty hectic from the drivers perspective.

I was watching a NASCRAP interview where Glen Beck was interviewing Jeff Burton and ( I want to say Kasey Kahne) and they came to the discussion of how they get into shape for racing. Burton's answer: We drink a lot of beer. WE DRINK A LOT OF BEER! I couldn't believe the nerve to consider yourself an athelete and then spit a line like that. IMO Takuma Sato should be on that list before any NASCAR driver.

LOL this thing is a joke. Where is Sebastian Loeb I guess it takes more skill to go around in circles than ice covered tarmac while it's still dark.

Why don't you join NASCAR then and start making millions of dollars without breaking a sweat!?

Ignorance is bliss. Why not become an astronaut? All you do is sit there pushing buttons and floating.

Pardon me if I insulted anyone I just don't see any intelligence in the above post. It must be a joke.

Why don't you sign up then? Jeff Gordon make a dump truck load of money pretty much every week. Or would you rather working for 10 bucks an hour?

Why don't you sign on to do both? You could make a ton of cash and be famous.
