My grandfather is turning 80 next month, and I am planning on buying him a watch (was going to buy one for me, but he deserves it much more than I do.). I'm thinking of spending in the <5K range. He needs something very simple, with just the date and time (ie, no chronographs). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
since he is 80, maybe something with large hour markers and hands How about a PAM. This PAM 005. All models have a similar style Bdel Image Unavailable, Please Login

Interesting suggestion - I will look into those. I'm not quite sure about the size, however. The Panerai's are quite bulky. The face is great though. Very easy to read. Thanks for the suggestions so far!
I have a Patek Philip watch from 1954 and not sure of the current value, if anyone here thinks they might now the value or an approx. value I can post pictures of it. The watch has been passed down from a client who passed away many years ago. I am not a subscribed member so I am not sure if i can post pics here, if I can't maybe I can email someone here the pics and they could post them for me. I understand this isn't an appraisal site for watches but I just thought with so many watch lovers here someone might be able to help. Thanks in advance.

Just got it today. Real pictures are always more fun. This watch is nothing compared to most of the other ones on here, but I'm happy with the purchase! Image Unavailable, Please Login
No, not dark steel - just looks that way. I made the photo black & white which probably contributed to that.

I don't own one, but looked at them pretty closely a few weeks back at a store in AZ. Something about them didn't impress me in person, they seem to look better in pictures. It could be because I tend to prefer larger watches, and theirs hover around the 40mm size.
