Where it will become very confusing... let s imagine a conversation in 10 years with Eckstein and a fan of Bizzarrini FAN ...Wow, you own a P538 EK = Yes, I own a P538 LE MANS (he is right, it s the marque) FAN = It s Bizzarrini ! EK = Well, yes and no FAN = It s built by Bizzarrini ? EK = YES EK = I bought it directly from the Scuderia Bizzarrini ! FAN = WOW, did the car race EK = I don t known, but it s was a test car, that s for sure, driven by Bizzarrini himself (100 meter in the front of his garage) FAN = When did you bought it ? EK = A long time ago No lies, only a lot of confusion in favor of the owner of the original P538 LE MANS car With a marque who was the type of a car, it s very confusing for the futur fan, anyway it s very intelligent or machiavelic...You decide Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Eckstein car have Lambo wheels and is on the top, I like the retro style like the Mini, but the car look like a Mini but drive like a small BMW. I wonder why people buy a NEW car, who look like a old car , drive like a old car, and cannot drive it on the street as the car is not road legal ? So whats your point? Sounds like the buyer was lucky enough to have some cars built by the Master himself. The moderator said to stay on point and not throw insulting remarks. Calling someone and accomplice is an insult. an accomplice is a person who actively participates in the commission of a crime, even though they take no part in the actual criminal offence. so by saying this you are claiming there is a criminal offense. If buying or having cars made is a criminal offense in your mind I think there are a few thousand members that would challenge that opinion. Nice pictures. Does Bizzarrini's son work with his father?
I seem to remember a certain person arguing long and loud that his own P538 built by Giotto Bizzarrini in the late 90's had every right to be called a Bizzarrini, whereas I argued it should be termed a "Bizzarrini-built replica, but in the best sense of the word". My concern was precisely that, years down the line, distinctions may become blurred, and a future buyer may think he is buying a 1960's car with history. If the car is called a post-1970, post-2000 Bizzarrini, whatever, I have no argument with that, as long as it was made by Bizzarrini. I see no difference between that car and the ones Giotto is building today. It matters little how many original period parts were or are used. I understand Sig. Bizzarrini can only build the chassis and make the fibreglass body on the original moulds - the client has to source the suspension, engine/trans, springs (Bizzarrini supplies the specifications), dampers, instruments, etc. and then put the car together. Even if there happened to be a complete chassis left over at the factory closure, it was essentially, a spare part only which was then built up into a complete car. As there were only 3 cars built in period as P538 Spyders (the third of which was the 1966 Le Mans car, rebodied by Giugiaro in 1968 as the wedge-shaped Bizzarrini Manta), the chances of an enthusiast picking up a real one are slim, to say the least. If someone wants one of these spectacular machines as a fun toy for sunny days, then why not have one made, especially if the old master himself builds it! I wish I could afford the privilege! Here's a shot of Giotto in the prototype at its first test. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I contacted our lawyer regarding this matter and got the following information: When Giotto Bizzarrini sold the rights to use his name on cars in 1985, he could not use this name anymore. He is entitled to use "Built(constructed, Designed) by Scuderia Bizzarrini" and can use all the trade names he still owns. All cars he built after the bankruptcy in 1968/69 must be clearly marked and described as " built in year ....". to avoid by all means the misleading impression that the car was built by the original company before the bankruptcy in 1968/69. It does not matter if old, original parts were used to complete the car.The date of completion is the important one.
What is the car in the black and white pictures? Looks somewhat like the Maserati Boomerang or a Lamborghini show car whose name I can't remember.
This car is the Manta. This was the first car Giugiaro designed after starting the company Ital Design. He used one of Bizzarrini's P538's . The driver sat in the middle with a passenger on each side. Maybe some others will post some nice pictures of it. This is the 4th and final of the original P538's, the P538 Duca d'Aosta coupe. It's rumoured that the Duke hit 200mph on the autostrada in it. We'll never know for sure, but it's a nice story! Isn't this car just GORGEOUS!! I love it! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
