Amazed - didn't expect to find this car in the dealer network bit of a bargain too - seriously, when you consider what an Enzo costs good investment http://www.dealer.ferrari.com/detail?template=/zoom/zoom20&vid=12945622
It is rather nice, not sure whether its a bargain though as it a replica even though its build cost would have exceeded its asking price. Underneath is a 250 GTE (#4749). Definitely a very good recreation which was done by Franco Ferrari in Modena, interior by Luppi. The main difference between the original and this vehicle is that a 4-speed gearbox with overdrive has been fitted rather than a 4-speed resulting in a much more enjoyable car to drive at high cruising speed. thanks Paul - didn't realise its a replica (blonde moment!!) in that case, i don't believe its such a bargain alas, a 250GT california for £474K? too good to be true
Real swb (short wheel base) Californias trade upwards of $5 million and I heard one recently changed hands for $18 million Paul
maybe not such a good bargain - still lovely though, especially if done properly (eg to the right spec etc) last good one i saw was a gto recreation - apparently a last nut and bolt copy of the real deal - £250k ish iirc.
that sounds way too high surely. epecially when ppl in the know are saying $13 - 15M for a GTO is about right
Wow, that is a seriously nice car, regardless of authenticity. It is also incredible that someone would pay $18million? That is a serious amount of money.
Not for some people, guy I met the other day spent about 5 times that on his daughters 21st birthday present, its all relative.
They have this one there too now (also a replica, same price) Much better colour Image Unavailable, Please Login
I saw my first one of these the other day reg: 250 CAL, does anyone know any more about this car? Just out of interest. It really was a stunning car!
That would be Frank Sytner's car (former touring car driver, now car dealership supremo) should have been silver/grey metallic. It was yellow for many years whilst owned by Steve Pilkington of Ormskirk, who has owned some exceptional 250 series cars over the years, including LM & GTO. The chassis number of 250 CAL is 3077 GT. Did you get any pictures?
Yes it is silver with black. I wonder if sytner has sold it as it was not in one of his dealerships. It is a replica like the others in this thread or an original? I have a couple of pics taken on my phone that came out quite well, ill post them if you like?
Frank Sytner has quite a collection of rare old road and racing cars and this indeed is a real one, unlike the others in this thread that are based on 250 GTE chassis. Frank Sytner bought this car in early 1998 and it still in his possesion
I assume the dealer i saw it in must be owned by him then, even though it is not called sytner . All i need to do is find out how to get the pics from my phone, i dont have a cable for this one. It might take a couple of days so please bear with me.
