1) Indicators. 2) Every one of five GTO's can have slightly different taillights with or without large or small chrome rims or whatever the customer and myself like best.
I second that. I just want to say congratulations ! Better than I ever imagined, the initial sketches were great these are out of this world. Could you do me a favor and put the picture of the front and rear shot of the car you used on press release onto the download page please, so I can use it as my wallpaper. Thanks Good luck with plate #4 for the car I PM'd you about, and keep up the good work.
Just been looking at pictures in more detail, surely you will offer things like the rear bumper ( nicely placed to protect exhaust tips, and for legal reasons I suppose) in Carbon Fibre as well as the 3 air intakes on the front ?
Yes, there's room for personalization as long as it does not influence the aerodynamics. Materials and colors can make each GTO unique and the interiors will be different as well.
3DSMax is a very nice tool for quick styling and visualising, but you can't do much more with it in the following stages. We're working with new software.
Congratulations! I have followed this thread from the beginning and it's great/AMAZING to see this car actually coming to fruition. Any chance of seeing build pics as the project rolls ahead?
I just read the interview in "Autovisie". Very intresting. Especially the bit at the end about a "one-off Ferrari spyder".
What a fantastic car! I don't know what I enjoy more, the car itself or the fact that you are here to share your amazing work with everyone - not only the small circle of automotive 'high society' but also with enthusiasts far away from being potential customers. Special thanks for that, Michiel!
Thanks. You're very welcome. For me it's all about sharing the passion whether you can afford this car or not.
I am not yet convinced. That is pretty much because retro-design is not for me. For that reason a Ford GT does nothing for me. To me, the 599 GTO is what the Ford GT is to the Ford GT 40, a questionable ´update´ from the original. Don´t get me wrong, the car itself looks great (especially the detailling in the front) but it just goes to show what an incredible job Giotto Bizzarini did on the original, since it looks great because it looks like a 250 GTO. And we also don´t know what it will look like in the metal. Untill now, all presentations have been done in flashy photoshop images, designed to make the subject look at its best. Let´s see how it will do as a 3D object in direct sunlight.
I understand. Future will tell. Only the first sketches were Photoshop, the new images are realistically rendered 3D. We'll keep you all posted when there's something to see in the flesh/aluminium.
Well, Hietbrink is the master at sculpting Ferrari shapes, so if he can´t pull it off, I don´t know who can. Or is the old Allegretti still alive?
congrats Michiel, wonderful work. I really enjoy this thread. Will 599 GTO have a prancing horse on it? (sorry if you answered already, but i didn't find something about it) Other one-offs do so: 612 Scaglietti sn 145746 Speciale PSK and 575 GTZ sn 127394 I hope to see your car on Track someday, battling against some Astons, corvettes and of course 575 GTC. Thank you for your contribution.
I found a very nice 4 page article from march 2007 about the revival of Special Coachbuilding starting with Jim's P4/5, followed by the 575 GTZ and the Fisker cars. Sadly they forgot to mention the 612 by Giugiaro... http://www.goldarths.com/Regulars/Reviews_and_Commentary/Coachbuilding/index.aspx And now the same website writes: http://www.goldarths.com/Current_Affairs/VandenbrinkDesignToBuildFerrariGTOIn2008.aspx
Just wondered if you will be posting development pictures, like when the donor vehicle arrives. Then the heart beating time, and sweating palms, of the first cut or removal of bumpers and lights and things. And how long after the New Year we will have to wait and see something. ?
