I will check on progress hopefuly this next week.

I will ask Les about the possibility of shooting at the dunes (the infamous San Juan Silica pits) but I think that it will have to be on a weekend as the owner banned the shoots due to the liabilitY from the sand trucks. I will be back to you on this.

John you should take a leaf out of the Shah's book of democracy. His standing madate to his Parliament was: "I speak, you listen". Its great to be the King :)

BTW, the old firewall from 4870's chassis that came off in the restoration bore what looks suspiciously like a bullet-hole (there's no proof that it is, but I wouldnt be surprised). As you may know if you have read about him, His Imperial Highness had an uncanny ability to survive assasination attempts by his beleaguered countrymen (half-a-dozen at least). In fact the car came with a single seat-belt just for the driver (the Shah) so that his armed SAVAK agent bodyguard who always rode in the passenger seat could remain un-tethered and jump out at a moment's notice to defend the King.

Now there's a great job. Imagine for a moment being that bodygard as the King drives at uncanny and unsafe speeds (no Niki Lauda he was) in the mountains as you slide all over the interior of the car without a seat belt, holding on to the door handle with your right hand and the middle hand hold with your left, trying not to look like you are soiling your pants while at the same time looking for bad guys. Then the Shah brakes hard for a left turn at 190 kph, and while you are pinned by centrifugal force to the door, a bad guy jumps out of the forrest and starts shooting at the blessed Shah. You try to pull your Uzi out of your concealed holster while at the same time you are pinned to the door on one side and holding on to the grab handle with the left hand. Aaahhh, the fun of being a bodygard for his holiness.

Perhaps the bodyguard came from this group.

    http://files.uzitalk.com/reference/pages/uzigirls.htm

For reference, the terms "blessed" and "his holiness" probably apply more to the Shah's successor, that joyless husk of a man Ayatolah Whatshisname who decreed that everyone was having too much fun.

Now that depends on who's in charge! Same with writing history, it's always writen by the victors, at least until they lose later. At the time of the setting of the story, the Shah was writing history. Now that he's, well, not in charge any more, the refences to him have changed to pilferer, cheater, thief (insert prefered adjective here) of the people's wealth as opposed to blessed and holiness that was the reference when he was chief.

Back to our regularly scheduled programing; thanks for playing.

Back in the 70's I was invited to participate in a speed record extravaganza in Iran, to be sponsored by the Shah.

It was to include a side by side run at the World Land Speed Record by two competing teams (sort of the ultimate drag race).

Some of the vehicles were prepared (one is hanging in my shop) but the political winds shifted and it never happened.

    Hello,

I am writing an artice about Miura for Classicauto magazine - the biggest polish magazine about classic cars. I've got a few questions about this car.

What are the strong and weak points of Miura?
What are the most common breakdowns and what causes them?
Does Miura have any problems with corrosion?
Are there any troubles with engine, suspension, breaks, steering gear etc.?

    Thanks in advance!
