I like the idea of shaving 40 pounds off the tail of the car, and it looks like there is no need for straight pipes, so you're saving $400 on that item.

But the description mentions "high flow catalytics". I see none... and I don't like bidding when the description doesn't match the photos.

I wondered why more people didn't do this, frankly-- especially with the high price tag they put on pre-fab exhaust systems.

Would love to hear some long term test results. I would be a little concerned about backpressure issues, but I don't know if these engines are overly sensitive to that.

I think the sound its a bit "wierd":D but its a cheap way to gain a few extra horsepower:) i wonder how would a 348 sound with straight pipes all the way...

Advertised as an exhaust system, I don't think that is right. It's a paior of bolt-on hi-flow cats with tips. Funny, what's the point of cats if you don't use O2 sensors and make an attempt to pass smog? Oh wait, unless they are using the cats as mufflers, which they aren't...

I'd prefer hi-flow cats to a single can exhaust, saving the O2 sensors. That way there is a possibility of passing smog. I am not going to bolt on anything that has to be unbolted every 2 years.

Dave (group77), I really like your "test" custom exhaust.

Ugh. I just listened to it... Sounds like a fart can for sure. The exhaust note alone kills it for me.

I'm up for any reasonably priced alternatives to tubi etc. Most of these systems are way over priced for what they are. Just because it's curved in a shape that fits a Ferrai it's $2000 more than it should be. I saw a "challange" exhaust discussed a few months ago. Seemed like a fairly simple design and easy to duplicate for a reasonable cost.

I have heard it and it doesn't sound like the video. Actually sounds pretty good at open throttle. As expected, is a bit lower in resonance due to the exhaust tube diameter. Is it classic Ferrari sound at idle?? No. Lower. At high RPM though it gets there. And louder, as expected. Same thing I found with my Tubi on my 328 before. Not saying this is a Tubi sound, just similar characteristics.

For the money, it is worth trying in my opinion.....and I see Plugzit thinks so too....

If Plugzit wins I expect a full report. Are those simply hi-flow cats and tips or what? Have we figured out what they really are?

I bet there is no cat there. Why would it not pass smog test? If they are cats and it won't pass, why waste the money? I bet there is some ceramic insulation, but no catalytic material.

I corresponded with the seller, asking if the convertors are within the cans & can be removed:

"Yes, you have to completly remove your stock cats & muffler then replace this custom exhaust. There is no way to remove the catalytic from the muffler because its weld together."

So I'm guessing those are some rare stylish cats with tips welded on the end??? Most cats I've seen are ugly diamond shaped things (function over form).

I was hoping they were mufflers only.
