Ohio State will be number one, largely based on offensive numbers, and their remaining schedule looks like they should win the Big 10 without a terrible amount of difficulty. At Penn State will be their only real test; Michigan may have lost Mike Hart with an ankle problem too.

They don't have a championship game in the Big 10 though. That should help them this year, but who knows, these voters do some controversial things every year.

I doubt it. They'll probably get leapfrogged by a couple teams this week because of their piss poor performance at home (again) vs a weak Pac10 team.

What amazes me is that ASU ran over Stanford 43-3. The next week Stanford played USC and caused an upset. Makes you wonder, was it REALLY an upset or is USC that weak of a team.

ASU (a 3-2 team at the time) gave USC (a 5-0 team at the time) a run for their money, in LA nonetheless. In that same season, Arizona was blown out by USC 20-3. Now, this year it was 17-13 (USC leading) with only :57 left on the clock and they get another FG to make it a 20-13 win. That is an incredibly close game for a team that should have been blown out of the water from the start.

When USC narrowly wins against a team who's only victories are against Northern Arizona and Washington State, then there is a huge problem. IMO, USC should be running over Stanford and Arizona. There is no reason why Stanford and Arizona should have been that close of games.

Does anyone think that South Florida could beat LSU? Oklahoma? Kentucky even?

I agree that they have an impressive resume, but I don't think they're the second best team in the country. However, I would be very surprised if they didn't win out in the Big East.

Followed by a beatdown in the national championship game....

It was a different Auburn team. Some different players on defense and didn't have their starting RB, Lester, who came back last week. It took USF 5 Auburn turnovers and OT to beat a subpar Auburn team. I don't think they would beat them again, even in Tampa.

Btw, good luck with Auburn next week. I'll be rooting for LSU. Not only because my Gators lost to AU in two consecutive seasons, but because AU will make the SEC look bad. Not many realize the number of starters that were gone when they played USF vs. now and they just see the Auburn name and think it was the same.

Auburn may be this years Arkansas. Loses at home to an out of conference opponent in the title hunt and then goes on to win the SEC West division. Everyone outside the SEC says the SEC West champion is weak, etc, without look at the facts of who was playing (Arky had an injured McFadden for one thing). Everyone inside the SEC knew that Arkansas was a weak, one-dimensional team, that lost the games it was supposed to (LSU and UF).

Damn...We have some making up to do. I wonder what our chances are like to getting to the title game.
USC is my favorite team and my school, but i have a bad feeling about the ASU game. I think that will hurt our chances.

USC is heavily overrated based on their poor performance this year. South Carolina is overrated too. I think Florida is underrated: Put them in a neutral field and I'll take them over a lot of the teams ahead of them. Kansas too.

And Auburn wasn't the same team when they lost to USF. That game hurt Auburn and helped USF more than it should have. If that game doesn't happen, USF isn't in the top 5. But since USF is a team that was supposed to lose to an SEC power and won at Jordan-Hare, they got a huge bump, and continue to get bigger bumps because Auburn is playing much better now, but Auburn was nowhere near the team they have turned into.

Here comes some big rivalries too..................

Quick question. I can't remember whether it was LSU or UK who had the ball, but when they were at the goal line and the play had to be reviewed to determine a touchdown, and was called one....HOW?

Explain to me how that was a touchdown, even from the arial view, no ball, shoulders head, and certainly no feet passed the goal line. How could they call it one?

I should note, I could care less for who won. Just one exciting football game.

Plus, do the CBS college announcers suck as bad as I think they do? They are so freaking annoying, and every other play they kept saying "I can't tell, this call could go either way...". I wish they would just shut up!

Ahhh, better now. Rant over. lmao

    Agreed.

Check youtube for the Georgia vs Alabama game.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZUB3eJOTos

Georgia starts their series off in overtime while the announcers are saying,
"I have an important question." Surely it's about football, right? Nope.
"What is Brittany doing with her life?"
    ".......Who?"
    "Brittany!"
    "......Brittany who?"
"Brittany Spears! What is she doing with her career?!"
"...........is she here? Is she a football fan?"
    "Oh I'm sure she is."

Touchdown Georgia, game over, and Brittany had nothing to do with any of it.

i do like Tim Brando, but he doesn't do color commentary, only the halftime stuff, which I think he does well.

Nebraska boots their AD and apparently is getting Tom Osborne back in the program. Callahan is surely gone at season's end, and I'll I've heard is Bo Pelini for the head coach search. (I heard June Jones too, but that's absurd) Any other names?

All I want to see is USC lose more. I'm sick and tired of the media talking about how great they are. Every year that's all they talk about. Nice to see Bush and Leinart are doing terrible in the NFL as expected. By the way the media talked about them 3 years ago you would of though Bush was a 1 man team and Leinart was the 2nd coming of Christ. Meanwhile Vince Young, who the media constantly said was over-rated, is kicking ass and has not skipped a beat. Bush finally had a decent day last Sunday and Leinart continues totally suck. I don't think Leinart's NFL career will last long. He's just not that good.

USC is not that great. They are a #10 team at best. Yet they seem to still think and act like they are #1.

ucla fan or other Pac-10 team? ;). I can see your point, dont worry, its gonna be tough for them to come back for the title game. This year just doesnt seem like they have that superstart talent as previous years. But we shall see how everything plays out.

    Fight on! :D

The worst thing that could happen to USC was for the Pac-10 to get strong, and it finally has. It's going to take some time for people and the media to realize that the Pac-10 isn't a one-team conference anymore, but what would you expect? A few conference championships won by teams other than USC will make everyone, the media included, realize that USC will just be a regular team in a conference who's power is finally being distributed instead of concentrated.

On a side note, I'm here in the great state of South Carolina, where Gamecock fans have all completely lost their minds. The sports radio around here is laughable. I realize that it's mostly fanatics that call in, but they are serious when they say they believe that SC could beat anyone in the top ten on a neutral field. I have to pull over to keep from peeing my pants in hilarity. Ohio State? West Virginia? Oklahoma? LSU(who they lost to, but the fans say they could beat them on neutral ground)?

I've seen the Cocks play in person this year, and while they are a good team and have a good coach, they aren't deep, and are winning by the skin of their teeth most weeks. Spurrier is a great college mind, and even he realizes that they aren't there yet. It's another case of learning how to win: the gamecock fans don't know what to do in the top ten because they haven't been there in years. We'll find out who they really are when they play Tennessee, but for now the fans seem to think that they're unbeatable, which means that they've all lost their minds or they haven't actually seen the Cocks play this year.

Spurrier is great though, his press conferences are timeless; he downs his players, the team, their effort, the staff, himself, etc. Basically, his mantra is "We win, but we shouldn't." He's got that special something that gets teams wins, whatever that something is. But he's not buying the hype that they're better than a lot of the teams they're ranked ahead of. +1 to The Old Ball Coach.
