I know what you mean. A mid engine car is the best racing wise. But I'm not Schumacher. I prefer a rear end that gradually starts to step out and I can dial in the counter steer. I can catch a slow slip of my 308, but I wouldn't want to go near the edge with that.

Ever driven a 308 on snow with summer tires? Barely controllable while still manageable with a front engine/rear drive.

    No, why would I?

What I was getting at is... well, "horses for courses".

Why bother to drive a normal car to the limit in order to have some fun?

Perhaps I'm a complete pu$siy but I've only taken a mid-engine car beyond it's/my capabilities a few times in nearly a decade of driving them - and they were all in safe places to do so.

Seriously if you are getting out of shape in a mid-engine car and don't know it long before you're at the edge, you really should go back to a Camry.

Actually a Camry is my daily driver. :)

I always envy the Topgear blokes who powerslide around that deserted airfield in England. The tracks I go to have trees and armco next to the tarmac. One mistake and you call a cab for your ride home.

You see why I say your very unitnellgent when it comes to kitcars you rant on and say a statement like

Seriously how many kitcar builders do you know or even have spoken with?. I know I have hell dispite I own a Fiero I still concider myself a kitcar guy and you don't here me how on paper the numbers are comparable, goddammit ill post up videos of hardcore facts what kitcars are capable of!. And my comments are negative? Just remember who started the put downs and gum flappin comments here, I in no way start any B.S but once it goes off topic and personal shots are taken thats beyond Negative in itself. You just keep that in mind.

I have to face facts... Camry really is a great car! If you don't care about taking it home (ie, rental) then Camry is probably the absolute best car you can possibly get... they are extremely well balanced, and they have *just* enough power to have to fun in, and you can do great burnouts in them! :)

Pull the handbrake around a bend... the Camry is the best car to try this in, you basically have to be a complete idiot to lose control of one of these cars.

That's the biggest criticism... it's great fun watching them do it, but for the most part their reviews mean nothing because frankly I'm not going to see whether I can step the back end of an Aston Martin out on *any* roads I would conceivably drive on.

So what theres guys here who drive CHEVY V-8 powered cars from the Springs to Denver on a daily basis bad or good weather. Its a long journey and could easly be a 2hour drive.
BFD, I see a FERRARI do 180kms per day and do w/e trackdays and long (really long) trips each year ... did I mention it has never broken down ONCE ??!!!
I see what your saying but how much does service and maintaince cost on something like that? A Buddy of mine pays dearly for his testarossa.
so this is your attempt to discredit someone who gives a "real world" account of true exotica as opposed to your YouTube crap, get over yourself , your posts are illiterate at best and downright uninformed mostly
Actions speak louder than words.
well I call BS on this one , a Fiero was a poor attempt at a car in the first place which is why everyone is putting a crappy replica body on them to hide it, but it's like ugly women that colour their hair green to draw attention to the fact they're ugly ... like wtf ???
First off let me tell you that I wanted something diffrent and you don't see many Lamborghinis here In colorado espcially the springs let alone a replica. Again was I building the car for people like you? hell no I wasn't it was gonna be a fun a daily driver for ME not for YOU. The facts is they may be ugly to you but to some other people thats just not their type, I don't like the 308s nor the 328s and Mondials thats much but you don't see me knocking on them calling them ugly they just aren't my style but I got respect for those who drive them because thats what they like and whatever makes them happy is cool I guess. Ugly is such a harsh word.

Look "Pantera", I don't know your real name, and I suspect there's a very good reason you hide it - I personally would love to make up a stupid persona to talk to people on the internet just for kicks, but I don't have that kind of time (yet :) ). My name is Ash Simmonds, whoa.

I'm not going to argue with you.... well, much. I find you to be great sport, but in the end futile.

All I know is that when I'm so bored I could kill myself, all I have to do is look at your latest posts and I can again laugh at life.

You don't need a beefed up engine to outrun a 308, all you need is a good driver who knows his car.

Look iam not gonna argue with this stupid s**T anymore! its retarded! I have wasted alot of time and now its getting way to personal where its gonna take it to the next level of personal attacks and then an all out sh*t talking costest will begin which is one reason why I parted ways with L/P.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG AND GET THIS TOPIC BACK ON TRACK!!!! DAMMIT!!!!!!!

still NOT understanding are you !!! I drive a FERRARI, witth a FERRARI engine everyday 180+ kms and still do trackdats and have a 5,000+km trip EVERY YEAR, christ learn to read you retard!!!
servicing it is about $750/yr, to maintain is what I feel like spending (paint chips, replacing what I consider needs changing, tyres, oil, etc) and that will fluctuate but nowhere near what a TR will cost because most TR owners didn't service them properly, but again you are basing your statements on something YOU know nothing about, do some research before you open your big mouth and put both feet in it, go get Forza magazine and read the servicing costs and then halve them because in Australia servicing these cars is not a fortune
google is NOT your friend :D
there are plenty of ugly Ferraris but the 308 is not one of them .... I tell ya what, let's prove the point, get a "mate" with a 308GTSQV and put your Fiero next to it and ask people which one they want to own or even take for a drive ... game over

and you haven't 'built' this thing yet have you ?

we call that a GUNNA down here, as in I'm GUNNA build that car one day and you never do, so stop pissing around on the internet and go build this abomination that can flog 308s on the track because let me tell youI've got an old VCR tape of me beating a series II WRX in my old GT4 on the track and I would consider a WRX far more competition than some Fiero or do you need to drop a Chev V8 in with 700hp ??

oh, and work out how to use the broken quotes willya ??!!

Look man if you are a true ferrari owner you need to act like one cause calling people a retard is just showing me how imature you can be. Thats great that you drive your 230hp Ferrari on a daily basis as well as the track on the weekends but again Iv'e seen folks out there with GM powered cars travel longer distances who do much more. Iam not saying anything bad or anything its very impressive what you have done with your 308.

Well up here in the states especially in colorado it costs a serious penny for anything even exotics. I know a few Ferrari owners here who rarely drive there cars cause the maintaince rivals aircrafts in costs thousands of dollars spent on basic service so don't tell me that I know nothing about what iam talking about. Maybe in assue land things are diffrent but in the milehigh city things cost money, lots of it!.

Backyard voodoo isn't your friend either.

Well no doubt people out there would take the Ferrari over the fiero its a ferrari~! id take a 308 if givin to me for free. :D Now once iam done modifying my fiero it will be the only one in the world like it, again iam not building this car to please people this is strickly gonna be a daily driver with alittle punch in it and personally ill take that over any 30+year old 308 cause I know I wont be running into another fiero like mine. Also iam not working for anyone so the car gets done when it gets done, bottom line you ain't paying to get the car done so it gets done on my time not yours.

What are you trying to prove?.

You seriously need to grow up.

You act like you got an F430 or something and a 308 ain't much, a stock Buick Grand National would smoke any stock 308 in the 1/4mile as well as the 328's, 348s and yes even a testarossa. Sure its not a great track car but its competition right out of the box I don't want to even get started on the turbo T/A and the GNX all of these cars are GM products. Also a stock fiero is alreadyintimadating enough to a stock 308 imagine with a 3800 Supercharged engine or a 350 small block I wouldn't need to race a 308 cause I can play with the Viper GTS and Z06's all day long wouldnt even waste my time with a WRX. 308's aren't much of a threat in todays standards unless you do some work to it very much like a fiero. You go and knock on fieros id love to see you try and knock on one with a 350 swap or a 3800Supercharged and lets see how your 308 matches up against it. Iv'e seen Fieros beat modedCamaros and DSM's with the 3800Swap, how about a 308? WRX? please....

GUNNA here in the mile high city stands for iam GUNNA f** you up if you keep talkin. i highly suggest we keep this tread moving in a postive durrection. You wanna believe that a V8 from a ferrari is far superior to the Small block then thats you iam not gonna argue with this nonsince anymore. This topic is about replicars but it seems that your taking it to far and for a 308 owner all i can say is iam very disapointed with your atitude.

Like I told ash like get this back on track otherwise don't come back.

HAHAHAHAHAH you are funny and not too bright are you ?

why don't you get back to first grade and learn to read and write, then do some comprehension training and stop debating (I'm being kind here) with adults

you know NOTHING about the subject of kitcars or replicas, I've forgotten more about these subjects than you will ever learn due to your disability .... I have helped two guys build Cobra replicas and done a bit of work on another mates GT40 rep plus worked on a Caterham and Westfield ,and then rebuilt a 327chev, a 350chev (4 bolt mains), Chrysler 340, Honda S600, MGB engine, fiat 124 engine, fiat 2300s engine and car restoration, Mini Cooper 1275 engine, and restored my Dino308GT4 from the ground up, but this may still not be enough to compete with the inane comments you make

now go cry on "someone's" shoulder

Andreas, I know you think this guy is knowledgable but you are wrong, he's talking YouTube speak here and is a GUNNA, time to put up or shut up, get the Fiero abomination built and go drag off a Ferrari or Lambo ... good luck

I helped a guy build his manta montage from the ground up which is a VW based kit, it drove like a go cart but was fun to drive and here you are again telling me I know nothing about kitcars now?

And now your saying to Andreas he;s wrong? Dude seriously Wtf is wrong with you?. you are taking this to far like Ash its getting way out of hand. Iam trying to get this back on track but YOU keep adding more wood to the unwanted fire. Quit taking it to personally and get over it.

stop talking **** and go build the abomination, you obviously have too much time to type instead of "achieving" the greatest Fiero in the world

get over yourself, you really are silly and your talk is the cheapest I've ever heard, still haven't built the abomination yet ??

    replicas are ridiculous.

i'd be SO embarrassed to be seen in one.

imagine what people say and think about them?? *shudder*...like WTF?

and the owner..."yeah...i know it's not a real one, i couldn't afford a real one....so I thought I'd make something that looks a bit like it....but gee...it goes good! watch me spin the wheels...and it's a one of a kind...no one else owns a car that looks as close to the real thing as this one!"

sorry...buy the real thing or drive what you can afford....or improve a car beyond comprehension...but trying to build something that resembles something else is a bit pathetic in my book.

of course, everyone's entitled to their own opinion.....but mine's the right one.
