The TV channel that cover all the F1 race action here in Finland is going to send during the winter old F1 races from the last 25 years. The viewer can vote and wish for specific races to be shown.

So, which races were the best, and why ?

Suzuka 2005. Kimi and Alonso charged from P17 and P16 to P1 and P3. Overtaking Giancarlo on the final lap. If I find that voting place I'm going to vote 10,000 times for USA 2005. So that you have to bear that terrible terrible race.

There is only one answer to that question: Donington 1993.

Autosport ranked it #2 on their list of all-time greatest F1 races, behind only a Fangio race from 1956 (IIRC). Senna in the wet, passing 5 drivers on the first lap to take the lead, including Prost, Hill and Schumacher...

Here's my selection of those that come to mind immediately (shame it starts in 1982 and misses out the highlights of Gilles Villeneuve's career) in addition to those already mentioned (no apologies for the Ferrari bias):

Long Beach 1982: Lauda's comeback win and a brief but memorable battle between Villeneuve and Rosberg
Monaco 1982: Rain and chaos in the closing laps
Zeltweg 1982: Magnificent track and the tightest of finishes
    Zandvoort 1983: Arnoux from nowhere
Estoril 1985: Senna's first win in the pouring rain
Jerez 1986: Senna by a whisker
Adelaide 1986: Tempestuous opening lap, three drivers going for the championship, drama to the end
    Hungaroring 1989: Mansell's greatest win
Mexico 1990: Mansell, Berger, Peraltada, need I say more?
Barcelona 1991: Mansell and Senna fractions apart, sparks flying
    Nurburgring 1995: Schumacher vs Alesi
Barcelona 1996: Schumacher masterclass and first win for Ferrari
Hungaroring 1998: How did he do that?
Suzuka 2000: Schumacher, Hakkinen and the WDC at stake
Malaysia 2001: Both Ferraris slide off the track early on
    Interlagos 2006: Schumacher's last race

Monaco 1984 would also be great, if abbreviated, for we Senna fans...

Anything from 1950 to 1969. Particularly late sixties. Hard to find original footage.

1970 to 2006 I got on tape/DVD in my library.

Donnington '93 was an amazing race. I was lucky enough to have attended that race, and became a Senna convert after the first lap. The way the Brazilian humbled the might of Williams and Prost was incredible to behold.

88 Italian, weeks after Enzo dies, Ferrari gets a surprise 1-2, only race not won by McLaren that year.
Any race that rains is a good race.

Italy 1988, for the same reasons previously mentioned
    Belgium 1992-Schumacher's first win
Imola 1994- Can't imagine what it was like to watch that stuff live, and therefore Senna's last race
    Interlagos 2006- Schumis' last race

Any turbocar race, 1985, where everyone runs out of fuel in the last two laps, including Johannson in the Ferrari.

Was it France in 1979, Villeneuve vs. Arnoux ?
That was LEGENDARY, and (used to) be all over youtube, I don't know if it still is.

Just checked - it is - check it out - go youtube 'villeneuve arnoux'.
You will wet your pants wishing we had racing like that today......

Monaco 1984 'unknown Senna' in the rain - awesome as well.

Jarno Trulli at Monaco in, what the mid 1990s, from mid-pack? Peter Windsor opens his interview by saying, "sorry, but that was truly an epic drive".

Many of the comments are comparing it to Massa v. Kubica. Very good racing to watch on both accounts.
