I did a search and didn't find anyone posting about this so I hope this isn't rehashing it. Britain's #1 prick does have an image to maintain you know. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/showbiz/showbiznews.html?in_article_id=487430&in_page_id=1773 Also shows another pic of him in his nero F430 Spider.
I read that he was getting two RR Dropheads ages ago - one for his house in LA, one for his house in London (IIRC he was getting the first one in Britain). The F430 is kept at his house in Marbella.
I think he probably does - looking at the picture given in the OP's link, the F430 shown is a US spec car as it has side-markers. However, last week on the X-Factor (UK TV show - similar to American Idol) Cowell had a load of people at his house in Marbella and there was a black F430 Spider in the driveway. He must have a thing for black Ferraris as he used to have a black 360 Spider in London. I'm wondering whether he has a matching set of cars at each of his houses?
I've heard he flies around 40 roundtrips (private, I assume) per year between his homes in L.A. and London. I though he had a Ferrari in London as well. I love the comments on that link. A bit of jealously.
Yeah, they are a trip. "Nauseating", "excessive consumption" "all the hungry mouths..." etc. etc. LMAO I say more power to him. The bloke's a self-made man; I read somewhere that he makes 30-38m a year for AI alone. The man has a penchant for fine cars and wants a Veyron and Phantom DhC on the same impulse -- why the heck not? Personally I would've chosen an F1 in lieu of the Veyron, still I think it's a fine pair.
What really surprised me is that the daily mail is a british newspaper and in Britain it's almost a national sport to dislike the rich; however many of the jealous comments came from people in other countries - even the USA, which in my experience is the country that celebrates it's people's successes more than anywhere else in the world.
I think people just love to hate Simon Cowell. Who hasn't thought, "I could do his job" ? He's made his wealth himself, and in turn made himself a celebrity, which as much as he is sure to say he doesn't like, I think he lives for it. Perfect too, i mean, how could you judge him? American Idol wants you to hate him lol! He does even better when people like him less, so more power to him. Good automotive tastes, my kind o' chap.
No I'm a conservative , I'd have the F1 and an Enzo, maybe. Veyron's not entirely my cup of tea when compared to these.
He makes about 30 million bucks for his show in England as well. With Simon, he does a lot more than just what it appears. I believe he hold the contract rights to all the finalist of the shows. He is involved in taking the talent from the show to the final product (production, persona, PR, ect.). He's built a lot of successful acts before his television success. Not to mention he's sold a record company (I believe) and has stakes in some other television shows that he's behind (I believe he started a show to challenge Pop Idols in England, the show that lead to AI and which he is on, to make himself more valuable in his upcoming contract talks). I like Simon a lot. What does his current collection hold? Also, do he have his own jet?
Are there any democratic, free countries that actually likes the rich and is business/tax friendly? I think the large amounts of wealth created by the hedge funds, corporations and an adminstration that like they are catering to the rich here is starting to cause problems. Britain is interesting as well because London is perheps the wealthiest city in the world due to its non-citizen tax laws. It has brought millionaires and billionaires from all over the world to the city and created a huge financial center.
I believe London is now the financial capital of the world - having overtaken NYC either last year, or the year before. The non-domicile tax laws are likely to change soon - our godawful useless government (I despise Tony Blair with a passion, and Gordon Brown can only make things worse...) have finally realised that actually we don't like the fact that we pay tax on our income when we initially earn it, then pay tax on our income when we take it out of our pension pot and they pay tax on what is left (well what is left over £300K) when we die. So the current idea is that inheritance tax will become more lenient and the shortfall will be accounted for by a tax or flat-rate charge on non-domiciles. It probably won't affect the super-rich as the amount is likely to be loose change to them, but some business leaders are complaining that they employ many managers from other countries and it will increase the already high cost of doing business in the UK. Incidentally, (I don't know how much gets reported about UK politics in the US, so apologies if you know this already) it wasn't even the governing party's idea - they pretended they were going to call an election, then after their opposition revealed their policies and consequently got a huge leap in the opinion polls, the government decided not to call an election, and instead pretended that they'd come up with all these ideas ages ago...
+1 I personally think he's a nice guy at heart. Just brutally honest. He seems to be friends with a local radio talk show host here, and has Simon on every so often. Seems to be quite a nice guy. In all seriousness the people who try out for American Idol should be told what their told. At least he's being honest. It's a lot more than what can be said for their friends and family who didn't make a peep about their abilities or lack there of. I think it's more pathetic, that their own family would allow them to be made fools of on national tv. But yes, a truly great car collection.
He ordered the RR a couple of years ago, not like he bought it on the spur of the moment. It's cool that he got a Veyron, he is a hard working guy. I don't watch the show but he is right in being brutally honest. Why lead people on to make them believe that they are good? He's doing them a favor at the end of the day.
Simon Fuller is the other "Simon" who was the producer and manager for the Spice Girls, and he is the actual owner of American Idol, amongst others. I wonder how much $$$ he has??
I never got this. How in God's name did he get THIS MUCH money. I could understand a Ferrari, but hell if he doesnt have a collection that keeps getting BIGGER and BIGGER. Best Jon
+1. If the people went into any other A+R person's office they'd get the same brutal honesty, so why not just because it's on TV? Simon Fuller sued Simon Cowell over his show X-Factor in the UK. IIRC the case was thrown out of court. Hello? It's media - it's a cash business, not a brand business. You not only make your money through the cash income from sales of your artists' records, but also through building up the value of the potential of the artists signed to your label. If you're good at spotting saleable artists (forget talent - that has nothing to do with it!) as Cowell is, it literally is a licence to print money!
Actually, I believe they settled out of court over X-Factor. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Fuller bought out the show and Cowell made a nice chunck of change. Here's a good overview of Simon at wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Cowell#Early_life
