Tom, with that negative attitude, and short coming....good ridence. I see tolerance for discussion and open forum is not your bag....you are on the wrong board then. I fail to see what "kind of crap" you are referring too ? Or is debating and discussion and other points of views too much effort on your part ? Feel free to post your discussion here listed below. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=171265
Well I could start by saying: Red 360 Modena on Félix-Leclerc boul today at 1 PM! Or Red 328 at Performhaus this morning, on a lift with a broken bushing (guess who's car it is). Anyway Tom has a point where we're a little off centered (like Regina). But we're a bunch of eager Fcar enthusiasts. What's happening here is that we've became aware of each one another this summer and it's like a revelation. Almost all of us thought we were the only one in the area and when we were seeing another Fcar we thought: Gee, nice ride from wherever to Qc City. So this is why we want to first use Fchat to see who else is in the area. Guys from anywhere and who actually know an owner in Qc City please ask him or her to chime in so we can create a group and then we could get together and whine and cheer about everything around our beloved car. What would be great also is to be able to go to meet in Mtl in convoy. That's only that...
Big red I love your comment about tolerance. You seem to be the one that posted the first comments (definitely negative) to Tom's Quebec City post. Also, what do you exactly mean when you say "good riddance"? If you mean what I think, you obviously do not know Tom. As far as I'm concerned, Tom is the first person I ring when I have a mechanical question. He is by far the most generous person I encountered on this thread or in person (in my garage, at his house or even at Tremblant). His commitment is unequaled and he is a great asset for all of us, specially for us here in the Capitale where Ferraris are a rare sight and people who truly know about Ferraris are even rarer. I consider it a far bigger commitment to own and drive a vintage Ferrari in Quebec City than Montreal and Tom's 365 has not missed a Saturday or Sunday drive. I find it disappointing to see the kind of comment his initial post generated and had hoped we could meet more people around here or even meet people from Montreal who would be willing to come and take a ride in our beautiful city. The food is good, the people are nice and the roads north of the city are astonishing specially at this time of the year. I hope this post won't get to many negative comments but generates interest towards Montrealers in taking nice leisurly and unassuming drives a little east of their city. If some of you are interested just send me, Tom or UpNorth a pm. The more the merrier. Ciao from the Capitale Nationale Dante
Rick: I hope that your reply to Tom was a simple case of "knee jerking". As a moderator, you should be a tad more restraint and diplomatic. Tom: If you feel that a Quebec City area thread is warranted, don't ask for a consensus. Just start the thread!! If enough people participate in it, then fine. If not then...on passe au prochain appel. Dantealfa and Up North: I've seen your pictures on Fl!ckr, and your drives seem to be quite enjoyable, as well as scenic. Keep it up and don't let the kilometers adding on your odometers dissuade you from driving your cars. Finally, compared to other sections on F-Chat, the Canadian chapter is IMO the most sedate. There isn't nearly as much controversy as elsewhere on this site, and there's a good camaraderie and fun banter between the members. Let's all enjoy it as such. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bernie, great post and great picture. As a matter of fact Tom has an identical sweater that he wore proudly at the Ferrari Festival in Tremblant, At the concours d'Élégance des Chutes Montmorency here in Quebec City etc. Here is a picture of a car, don't know what it is and is of no interest to me but they say it's some kind of Ferrari. I heard someone saying it's a 250 GT something. I also heard that it's worth over $10 000 000 US ($9 750 000 CDN) I doubt it, considering it's age. The paint was ok, the body panel fit was not to bad. But the way the driver was driving it, it was certainly not worth the numbers people were saying. The truly interesting thing in the picture is Tom with his sweater. The second picture shows the same 250 GTO with a few known cars in the background. I guess that's Bernie's 308. There is also Bagelman's 365 GT 2+2 and Tom's 365 next to it, both from La Capitale Nationale. By the way that was 250 GTO s/n 3729 and she was absolutely fabulous. For someone that comes on here with very little posted and comments in a negative fashion about the "crap around here" to use his words.....cannot bully there way into making fchat ay better than anyone else. The description of who he is by dantealfa and bernie is all fine and dandy....thats fantastic....but for him to make 1 suggestion and people vote or comment on his point of view (regardless of whom they are) and he uses the post as "this is the crap i would expect around here" and then threatens to leave......i say good ridence....that attitude reminds me of grade school. I cant play my way so i go home and take my marbles...thats how his post came across and he left....so, if you wish to defend him...thats fine. Regardless of how many ferrari's anyone has around here or how active they are...slamming fchat is a no, no in my book. He talks about the level of maturity around here.....he should talk after his actions. (Reread his post) Take it for whats it worth
Rick, Nice post, great moderator. You have proven Tom's point. But my opinion is worthless since I have limited posts. You must agree that Tom's original post was not received with great warmth! Bernie had the best solution concerning the thread. As far as I'm concerned this my last post on the subject. I need to go out and take my car for a nice ride before I get to the office. Hopefully I'll se a Ferrari on my way and tell you about it. By the way the Capitale Nationale gang will be at the Bagel Cafe, Sunday morning 8am, 1332 rue Maguire in Sillery. Its clear that either email messages are interpreted incorrectly on many sides , thus creating more disagreement, or a comprehension class is needed for all of us
The problem is it is hard to tell how people mean something when they read it as opposed to saying it. Sarcasim is a wonderful thing but it doesn't do well in written form. Most of the fighting on F-Chat stems from this problem...
Not just on f-chat Jay. Most likely anywhere on the internet. Ok, the people have spoken. I will now change the Montreal thread to the Québec thread (again). If anyone makes a complaint again I think I will have to go Jackie Chan on someone.
Adversity creates disagreement. Disagreement creates discussion. Discussion creates consensus and consensus is not that bad. Now that Tom's seed (not literally!) has given birth to something interesting, let me ask a question: Do any of you ever travel to Québec City? If not, you should try it, it's addictive. If so let us know through the new Québec Thread. Now we have to convince Tom to come back. I travel to Montréal as often as possible (for work mostly, for family and for fun). Meeting Ferrari fans is always fun specially in diffrent settings. Now that my post count is increasing, I should gain credibility (Im just joking). Ciao from La Capitale Nationale Dante http://web.mac.com/DANTEALFA
I'll be there with my daily or maybe with Roxanne if my prayer to Fedex god is heard. Bushings are possibly coming in this morning and if so I'm all right for this week-end. Francois
Hi Dante. Never been to Que. city but hopefully very very soon. I only hear great things about it! Let's see if we can get Tom back and have a great time here again.
Oh really? Is that the reason why I got my balls busted last time I changed the Montreal Thread to the "Quebec" Thread!!?? BAH! You're lucky you guys got hot chicks, good food and great bars over there or else....
Who's gonna be the first one from GTA or Mtl to see that the Bagels on Maguire street in Québec City are better anywhere else?...Bernie? Or Vasco? François
I'll have Roxanne for the sunday morning Québec City meet! Vasco, I can see you're on for a meet in Québec City one day or the other, that's great! See ya one of these day!
yup, that GTO is worth over 10million... doens't matter the age and shape, it has racing history.... cool picture....though, included in that pic is my 512TR.... UC's 360CS and his black 997 GT3!
I know about the GTO's value, I was just joking. He are a few more pics I took during that weekend in Tremblant. And one from The Cento Miglia. Manny you must know that car!
