    Your mystery shark nose may be an early Motorkits. Curcuit Series with MRF wheels. But I anot entirely certain about that.

    I enjoy seeing your old school models very much. Most are extremely rare today. They are the foundation of the hobby and made by some of the very pioneers of our industry and highly regarded by most of the people who actually produce our models today. Let's just say you won't hear Ballestrini, Conti or Brianza making much fun of them. Quite the contrary. They'd be delighted.

    While I collect modern made 1/43 models. I also collect the very early kits of Formula One and Grand Prix as well. There is a special place in my heart for such. So I can identify. Look forward to more of you guys posting your rare models done by the masters and pioneers of the the past. Good on you.

    Correct on the kit, but those are not MRF wheels. I'm not sure exactly whose they are. The best wire wheels are still made by Bosica, but are VERY diffficult to find; especailly the larger ones for 30s cars.

    Mike is a nice guy, but ALL of his models are basically re-pops of old kits (such as John Day), with some modification done by Mike.

    They also did a 1966 Ford GT in about 1/38th scale, but I have only ever seen ONE!

    The Conti stuff and the Hobby Technica Italy stuff was cast by the same company. The are VERY, VERY crude in raw form and need a TON of work just to make them presentable...

    I agree with your sentiment. Nothing like going back to the beginning. They are also fun to "make." When I'm upstate NY with my family, we usually sit around a large table in the screened in porch...my 12 year old son and I research and "do" the old white metal models, while 2 of my daughters and one of the boyfriends paint oil paintings. It's a nice family experience. I have a bunch of car books...so it's fun to read about the cars as well.

    Thanks for the info Stu. I checked the kit...the instructions are in French & ?German...it says the base is Solido Porsche 934 ref. 68K. I guess I have to start looking for that one!

    For everyone's information, the Barnett and Lockwood models are worth about $2500-$3000 EACH!

    Shouldn't be too difficult to find; nor very expensive....maybe $25 at most. Try e-bay and check worldwide; not just US e-bay when you search.

    Looks like the John Day 375+ 1954 LeMans car to me.
