This raises a good point - the FIA should really do away with silly team orders rules. Its not like everyone doesn't know it's happenning. It just means the teams have to be more devious which makes it more frustrating for true fans who see right through it.

Who decided a team should not be able to decide how their drivers prosecute the race? Just stupid.

Ferrari is supposed to hand the WDC to McLaren just to make sure viewers see a "clean event". How is it a clean event when they meddled with it so much this year? The FIA is out of their minds on the team orders rule.

I watched the post race interview and was surprised that Alonso seemed rather happy. He congratulated Kimi, he smiled, he laughed, he even made some jokes about the Ferraris being so fast that they could slow down for conserving their tires from third lap on. No whining at all!

Now that's not a very nice attitude my friend:( I to am not subscribed but does that mean that no one should engage in conversation with me? Even though i am a long term Ferrari owner/Custodian of several models, i notice you are not a Ferrari owner on this Ferrari forum. Does that mean that we Ferrari owners should not talk to your self based on that fact?? Of course not:D Lets all just get along:)

Couldn't agree more with your points. Really, McLaren ended up costing themselves both titles first by getting caught with the spying scandal and secondly by allowing the driver rift to grow out of control. Lewis did lose this title...by being overly exhuberant and headstrong in wanting to win the race that gave him the title. In both of the last two races, he had everything to lose by challenging Raikkonen and Alonso when they had nothing to lose. I think he's a very good driver who will have his day, but his immaturity cost him.

On a separate note, was ANYBODY else surprised to learn Kimi had only completed 25 races when he was picked up by Sauber? That guy is obviously a natural talent.

i can go along with most of that.
i was only saying its a case of we will never know - eg no one can say for sure "we would have won anyways"

    hehehe

im still puzzled over what happened at Shanghai though - LH just needed to finish with a few points to win the WDC (cant remember how many)
everyone could see LH's tyres were falling to pieces and i do mean everyone - the commentators were all saying it and anyone watching the race could see it too.

so why didnt the team bring him in
i love a good conspiracy theory though i dont take them too seriously but its hard to see a good reason for this happening and i dont think anyone can blame LH for that.

he made mistakes at start of this race, but again i dont feel he can be held responsible for his cars hydraulic failure either.

Lost an argument? What are you smoking? Mercedes Benz fumes?
The only thing I have lost is my patience with you and the only thing I can't deal with is the nonsense coming out of your posts.
    Here is the scoop.
With penalties the McCheaters drivers should not have been even allowed to race.
Even without the FIA penalty Ferrari would have been AND ARE WCC
Even by any of the old point scoring system KIMI would have been AND IS WDC
Even with all the "magic hand's" help the HAmster received Kimi IS WDC
Spin it any way you like, you lost.
Now don't bother answering, but instead go take a cold shower so you can snap out of whatever dream you are in and try to comprehend that this is not exactly England's finest moment in sports

Ahhh yes, but give him some time to dwell on it and we'll see what he comes up with.

He's a snake - a two faced snake and it will be when he gets home to Spain that he'll start whining in the Spanish press.

I wonder when the announcement will come that he's going back to Renault? I bet it will escalate into a war of words between him and Lewis/Ron/McLaren during the off-season. Remember there's not much going on during that time :)

I think this is headed down the wrong path. I don't know why, though, so many are piling on England after this race. There seems to be some misplaced anger...and it better explains the hatred for Hamilton (which to this point I assumed was only due to his meteoric rise up the F1 ladder). Yeah, I know that McLaren and Hamilton both represent the UK, but that has nothing to do with racing.

The best team won the constructors championship despite the other team being kicked out for cheating.

The best driver won the championship too.

Do you think it was conspired to finish this way?

    nonsense ????

    Here is the real scoop.

    i. With penalties the McCheaters drivers should not have been even allowed to race. - OPINION
ii. Even without the FIA penalty Ferrari would have been AND ARE WCC - SPECULATIVE
iii. Even by any of the old point scoring system KIMI would have been AND IS WDC - my god youve actually got something right
iv. Even with all the "magic hand's" help the HAmster received Kimi IS WDC - and what about KR's helping hands - he has been gifted at least 4 points by his team mate

i live in wales - as anyone can see by simply reading up by my name.
    Wales is NOT England.

have a nice day now.

Yes I think so, too... as soon as he meets the first Spanish reporter, he'll begin ;) But hey, we never know, after him being so friendly with Ferrari today, we might see the announcment that STR will become Ferrari's B-Team next year, with Alonso building it up :D

Agree but if you go to one of the F1 historical sites its amazing just how much controversy there was in the past. Many many WDC's and WCC's were won under dubious circumstances - not only the ones involving Ferrari that many here remember. This will just be another one of those situations and IMO its always interesting to see how the teams and drivers do at the beginning. We had an exciting season out of it and I am sure Ron and McLaren and Lewis learned a LOT. They are a good team and will bounce back.

I think Lewis is just a savage competitor. He doesn't want to do just what he needs to do, he wants to win it outright every time. Schuey was like that too. Its the competitive spirit and desire to win. I could turn around China though and say that, while Lewis should have known KR and FA had nothing to lose, he probably also looked at it like he had two chances to win and they only had one. Like he's got two penalty kicks and the competitor only has one. The other guy needs to bat 100% but he only needs 1 of 2, so Lewis probably felt he had enough points in the bank to take his shot in China and still have enough left to recover if it went bad. Well, it went bad - twice in a row!

    Too bad for Lewis.

As for why he was not brought in, I can only imagine that he was so close to his planned strategy that they thought he could make it. Look at KR this race - his tire was looking pretty poor but they left him out. When those gambles pay off, the team is "brilliant", when they blow up in their face they will forever be questioned over it. Same with Lewis - had it paid off with a win/podium at Shanghai, McLaren would be lauded as making the smart call. They probably wanted to wrap it up too that weekend and knew they had another chance in the bank should this attempt pay off.

But really - if you ran the last 2 GP'sl GP 1,000 times, I bet Kimi would only win in about 0.2% of them - he was such a long shot and he was lucky, but good for him because it's a big part skill, a big part equipment, and a big part luck. Lewis didn't have enough of the first two to overcome his severe lack of the last one. Just how it works sometimes :)

I know that the official F1.com site had final WDC standings (after today's race) as Kimi 110, LH 109, and FA 109, but prior to today's race FA had 104. So, as FA finished 3rd today, he should have 110 (and finish second to Kimi as Kimi has more wins with LH at 109 and third in WDC). So, am I right or not? Thanks.

Other than that it doesn't really matter if anyone is a member or not to me. I don't think that the price of descent breakfast adds anything to one's opinion.

The only fair conclusion to one very strange season.

Kimi was the moral WDC and now he is the historic one as well.

Massa deserves a big round of applause too for being the best mate Kimi could wish for.
