I just watched Foxnews and was surprised to see wildfire (again) in Malibu area.
Felt some deja vu moment for awhile, I remembered back in 1993 when I just graduated frrom Pepperdine and fire was dangerously close to the campus. Thank God it was okay, if not I wouldn't have a December graduation ceremony.

How's this fire compared to the one in 93? Is it smaller now??

    I hope everyone is ok

    Cheers,
    Taffy

I am in malibu now .. power just went on after being down all night so we can get online and see what's going on TV right now. Winds are still blowing very strong (30-50 mph) and is scheduled to go on for a few more days so I really hope they get it under control despite the bad conditions (high heat and big winds). It's not as bad yet as the fires from '93 ..

It's really not good. The wind is so bad and is causing it to jump everywhere. It's moved about 3 - 5 miles closer to where we are in the past few hours and we can smell and see the smoke everywhere. It's still about 5 miles away but I also hear it's Zero percent contained and the wind is going to blow for the next few days so we are anticipating evacuations at some point unless the wind stops or it completely changes direction.

We evacuated. Probably not necessary but definitely good for piece of mind as we can at least sleep tonight instead of being on the edge. Seems to have died down a bit now, but it's not put out completely or contained and the wind is supposed to pick up tonight and go until Tuesday.

We might need you down here! Only saving grace is the area I'm burned in the Cedar fire last time so we should be OK.

I've contacted a friend of mine at Pepperdine and opened up my apartment to anyone who needs a place to rest or shower. If there are any Fchatters who'd like some privacy or simply to get out of the shelters, please send me a PM and my home is yours.

    Cheers!
    Las.

    Winds sucked yesterday,

was over at my girlfriends house last night and the winds were crazy over in Coto de Caza/Trabuco Cayon Area.

All of here in Mission Viejo is torn apart, with stuff everywhere from the winds.

We did the same here to open our home to those that had to evacuate. Along with them came 18 AKC Labrador retrievers six were 4 day old puppies. We had them all in dog crates donated by some of the neighbors in the garage. Yes I pulled my Porsche Carrera out on the street and the Ferrari stayed in the Garage. In a time of need, people are scared, worried and very tired, so we did the only thing that any one I hope would also do and give them a meal, hot shower and a comfortable bed in a safe place to lay their heads.
