    Dear Comrade 512 Tea Are,

You are too kind by half for taking the trouble to point that out. Thanks indeed for that clarification.

I must be one of those rare individuals who uses the luggage. I will post a pic confirming this.

As to the mythical $2,500 or $2,800 sets of luggage, I will be sure to pounce upon them should a truly unused set without another's name on it ever materialize at that price in my lifetime.
I do agree with Ruf MD that they represent good value at thos numbers. The trouble is having luggage with other people's names on it is not what I want.
Ruf MD has kindly pointed out that the original sets of luggage had tan carry bags and not yellow ones. I will have to remind Schedoni of same, even though since I actually use the luggage occasionally, they are never in the bags.

Thanks for an incredible thread on the F40. That particular car has been a dream car of mine for as long as I can remember.

Did you folks ever see pictures of a fellow that completely restored a F40 that had been totalled? It was a fascinating process.

I'll upload the zip if you guys haven't seen it. Let me know.

LOL ! Last time I checked labels don't cost $6200 ! I believe another FChatter obtained the cost of a label switch from schedoni...it was around $600-800 including labor. Trust me, I could care less how you spend your coin....although i must admit in this case I get a good chuckle out of it. As far as "mythical" $2500 or $2800 luggage sets, I assure you the pic above is no myth...and not "doctored" in any way ! Since we are posting receipts and such, purchase price can be confirmed with Mr PersIchini if you so choose.

Now, I do remember reading one time that the new sets aren't exactly identical to the original ones...will have to dig that thread up.....ah, here it is....

Boy, wouldn't that be a shame eh ?

Simon F40's set looks great with chassis number ID. Schedoni told me too that they cannot guarantee it would be identical to the original sets - WCH is right. They did however point out that they would in fact be better made, to my exact specifications, which is exactly my goal.

So far as its new F40 luggage with the correct chassis number ID on it made by Schedoni Im sure I will be more than thrilled. Im not too bothered if they are first or second series items or come in yellow or tan bags... the only thing thats a shame to me is having luggage with someone else's name on it.

None of this changes the fact that if you want Schedoni to make you a brand new set of luggage its $9,499 US delivered including duties. To someone looking for a set right now, the redundant tales of $2,800 sets are not helpful in the least unless they are available or you can provide examples at that number right now. Bottom line: the claim you made on the other thread that for a new set of luggage one had to pay just $4k was both incorrect and out-of-date. Dont get all mad with me (as usual). Just check your facts and know what you are talking about before you post :)

So far Ive done OK with how I spend my "coin" as you put it. Generally speaking I think things over before I make a move so if its OK with you I will let you know Im comfortable spending whatever need to to obtain the parts I want via my local dealer. I never expected F40 ownership to be particularly inexpensive.

As Ive said several times, please come up with some sets of luggage at cheaper prices to our collective benefit or stop ranting on with points of view and theories that dont help anybody. Im waiting to hear good tidings about the $2,800 sets of pristine luggage that you profess is the market price. Where are they? Nobody is disagreeing that that would indeed be a nice price. Please point us to some examples at the price you proclaim right now, if there is any current reality to your claims...

Boy do you come across all bitter if anything. LOL.

Trust me, nobody consults me before they post and 512 Tea Are does not always agree with my points of view. He is an independent thinker and speaker. Thats why we value him around here.

His point made was 100% spot-on. "You may spend your money how you choose and you have no need to justify it to anyone". Id say that is a true statement if ever there was one.

Yeah, Jas, I remember grabbing these pictures from a post on here a while back. Boggles the mind to hear of someone taking on a F40 restoration project! I never did find out how long it took him to do that!

There is a nice magazine article about this F40 restoration effort.
Yes that must have been a daunting project. But try fully restoring a Miura SV! The curvaceous and delicate aluminum bodywork is enough to make even the most experienced coachbuilder cry themselves to sleep at night.... I know our last restoration took a year-and-a-half going at it FULL TIME with something being done every day including almost all weekends.

    Thanks for sharing!

I like the original items with my car. Have the original luggage & it is as new throughout. Have the original headliner too. No heat/weather born sag here. There's something to say about originality-Ferrari agrees, I believe at the Cavillino, there are deducted points for entrants with "new" luggage. For anyone that has had there car there ONLY!-Is that correct? Speculators please refrain from your "opinion" as I want to only hear the facts from those that have entered cars in the past.

As long as the "new" luggage is identical to the original, and the judges cannot perceive a difference, then you would be ok. Judges tend to know their subjects inside out, so if it comes down to 2 or 3 cars with identical scoring, little details like that matter.

As long as it is oem stuff or exactly identical to it, you are good.

I hade heard that you must present the car with original tires and that there is a deduction for non-original air in them. Is this correct?

No, once again, you are incorrect. All sarcasm aside, non original and non oem brand tires do not result in deductions...judges feel that safety first, and old cracked tires do not represent "originality". The tire sizes should be oem, but not necessarily the brand. Personally, seeing the barn find 166MM at Cavallino this year in its unrestored glory, complete with original shoes (not sure about the air), was breathtaking.

Sure...All major Ferrari Concours adhere to IAC/PFA Concours guidelines...here are the said guidelines :

    http://www.cavallino.com/judging.html

Now direct your attention to item 8...if you can't find it, I quote

"8. Routine replacement items, such as spark plugs, filters, battery, window glass, and tires, need not be the exact original brand or type provided that replacements conform to the general appearance, characteristics, and size of the original. Tires with the correct profile should be fitted to original rims and any spare should match unless the spare is an original specially-equipped Factory item."

Seems like your recent mechanical refurbishment of your car/headliner repair/luggage quest suggests that you are preparing to enter Cavallino anyway, so why don't you just ask them when you are down there.

Cant sleep? LOL. I thought you said "nighty night" (a bit too effeminate for me) an hour ago! Obviously you need some...

I keep my cars in the best condition I can all the time and anyone who has seen any of my cars the last 20 years will attest same. Not bothered about Concours and you know it :)
