just heard from my friend in olivenhein again and he was calling to invite me over for dinner.....so I guess thats good news, he seems to be very confident and says things seem much calmer now.

havent heard anything about fairbanks at all....which could be good news, but do know they had the evac center at the shopping center in the middle of town there.

They have just posted a new burn map.

    http://www.sdcountyemergency.com/

Looks like its following Del Dios/Paseo Delicias towards Via de la Valle, looks to be south of my neighborghood and narrowing. Hopefully that means they are starting to get it contained.

Where did you hear that? Any idea what part? Would that include Crosby or Cielo? 6 sounds like a low number considering the extent of these fires (thankfully).

I heard the Village of RSF should be ok also. Does that mean this is getting contained?

I wonder where this thing is going to go. If it reaches the coast, then what?

Watching ch 10 now. Anyone know that website the guy was talking about to view the fires with a map?

    Thanks

Ok I am back home but the air quality is horrible and we are still in the watch zone so my mom wants to find a hotel in OC to stay. Is there any hotel in a safe area in OC that is pet friendly that we can go to tonight? Or a hotel in a safe area in general that is pet friendly that we can go to tonight?

Most, if not all, hotels are pet friendly for this whole crisis. A lot are offering cheaper rates as well.

Jon and Chase, best of luck to you guys. I hate being so far from home at a time like this, I wish I was there to help my family out. They were evacuated from Del Mar pretty early this morning and went to Coronado. Last I heard from my mom, the fire was in Solana Beach, as far west as Cedros. Does anyone have any confirmation on that?
And like Steve Just said, the hotel that my parents are staying in (Glorietta Bay Inn) are allowing my parents to bring the dog and cat in the hotel.

Thanks guys. The fire seems to be moving south of our place and the fighter teams are starting to gain control. It will be a stressful night, but I think it will be fine. Even if the flames get back to the neighborhood, the golf course has had all the sprinklers on all day nearly flooding the place, so it should be all too soaked for anything to catch fire anyway.

Any updates or info on Encinitas???
My Aunt, Uncle and two baby cousins live in encinitas. They told me it was not manditory evac. but they have already left and headed up to my grandparents in Newport, but I can't imagine the air quality is much better there. Anybody from Newport Beach (Fashion Island area) with updates?

south of del dios north of sorrento and everything west of black mountain to the ocean is current evac....encinitas is confusing, they sent people home but I see on CBS site that they are evacing the areas of encinitas nearer the beach???? my mom lives with her backyard on a hill facing RSF and she again can see flames so I have no idea whats going on there, but currently fire seems to still be in Encinitas

and the report I heard about the 6 homes was on the radio on cogo, they had just gotten an updated list of lost homes and went through it by area....it said rsf=6
