Yah. My parents just evacuated since Olivenhain is now considered mandatory. They said the smoke is going straight up (i.e. no winds) for the moment. Hopefully that will last.

based on where you marked where your parents house is on that map the only current concern in that area is smoke, they are a good distance from the fire still and the winds are dead.

there has been much confusion with the phone calls giving evac notices, cuz some say they are voluntary, others say "highly recommended" and then there are the reverse 911s that are the mandatory and a lot of people are getting the voluntary one and taking off which is fine but then they relay the info (or at least have been to me or what Ive heard) as mandatory, adding to the confusion.

Olivenhein last night was just the dam area, but just heard from my friend that they did get a mandatory this morning but he can see the fire on the hill crest in the distance and its been like that all night.

Just got some good news. Found a message board for our HOA. One neighbor said that her cousin works for SDGE and checked out Bel Etage/Savena area and everything is OK. Lots of smoke and wind, but no structure damage. Police and fire fighters have locked down the area.

    Prayers are with every one!

I wish there was a map that showed the actual fire front.

We'll see what the winds too.

I bet. Like I said, I don't know where my mom got her info from. Leaving wasn't a bad idea even if optional, though.

Got another update from my dad:

He talked to a friend of his that was able to get into the Bridges, still nothing burned at all in the neighborhood, and the golf course sprinklers are keeping everything soaked. Our house is in the SE corner across the street from that Nursery that was burning, and that area has calmed down, so said it's a 99.9% chance now our house will be fine.

Right now, the blaze is still going just outside the NE corner of the property, and they are fighting like hell to keep it from spreading into that creek bed and all at wildlife preserve towards Olivenhein canyon. The good news right now is that the winds are calm and the fire fighters are starting to get it contained over there.

Only word I heard about Cielo is that some of the lower hills had some damage, but it wasn't complete destruction through there.

just got off phone with friend, he watched the fire on the ridge all night, NE of his place in Olivenhein, sounds like the Bridges area....he said it flared up good at one point last night then around 11pm it went into a solid fire line as the winds died down and got smaller, he could see crews fighting it and said they got a brake in the fire and cut it in half and then not too much later they got it to small hot spots...this morning he cant see any fire just smoke everywhere

friend in del mar just drove around and cant find a fire anywhere so I dont know what the news is really reporting, I told him where they were filming and he lives off of Del Mar Heights and said there is nothing but hes on the lookout. He was at a friends house last night in RSF and they went to the town in the center of RSF and watched the fire, at that point it was east of the town but flared up big he said so they left.

that seems like a pretty accurate map from what Ive been hearing, the corrections I would make to it to be accurate as of this morning, would be at teh top arc it up and to the left a bit to bring it a bit closer to the bridges, then at the lower left corner of that Im guessing it has moved west across via de la valle since the news showed a home that burned right on that road and said it had crossed the street, and bring it down and towards the left towards Fairbanks and San Dieguito Rd, across that road and as far down as Del Mar Heights; Ive heard that it did cross San Dieguito and entered Fairbanks and the news showed the fire just off Del Mar Heights to the north a bit, from the background during the video it looked like it was where Heights nears Carmel Valley Rd close to Torrey Pines Highschool...its a lot of brush over there....I just dont know how wide the fire is as it goes down into that area....is it just a finger dipping down or is everything to the east of that line also on fire???? I dont know. or it could be just small hot spots, but those areas have been confirmed on fire.

we dont know yet, I dont think they know what even started the first one yet, but the others could have been embers floating through the air to jump the fire to new areas, the one in san ysidro was started by kids and they were caught

live on cbs....said those homes I listed above where hit around 2:30am and the fire kept moving west, no more fire (minus small hot spots) in the town area of RSF, it moved on and the fire trucks just left the area where they are filming

I've naturally been more focused on the Santiago fire the past few days, but my friend Jay was able to return to his house in Foothill Ranch with his family today so I have space again and will make the same offer I made to the folks threatened in Orange County before -- if anyone needs a place to stay, please drop me a line. I can provide a room and bath in my apartment plus garage space if necessary. I'm in Irvine right along the 405 near Jamboree. About 6 miles from Cars & Coffee. I saw people saying they had to go to hotels way further away when they evacuated their homes and it made my heart ache. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

The General Manager of the Bridges Club just sent out an email that all fires threating our property have been contained, and there was no damage to anything within our fences, not even the golf course!

My parents are going to try go home this afternoon. All is well in the world again. :)

The rest of San Diego is still a mess though! Good luck to the rest of you!

that is very good news. did he mention if the fire in that area had moved back south and is heading towards olivenhein or if the it has just been contained in general and that neck of the woods is out of harms way now?

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who is a fire fighter for the city of San Diego. His latest info is that the finger is pretty much stagnant, but has a south-south-westerly trend (towards Del Mar). He said he's more worried about the Lake Hodges area spreading north.
