The car i've put comes out to about $114,600. Is it unreasonable to ask for a $10k discount.

Please advise me of a good Porsche dealer or broker that can do this for me. I am through with my local dealers.

    HELP!!

They normally have 12% in the car.......plus a 3% service holdback. The holdback is generally not negotiable except at the model year end, and/or, when dealing on a demo unit with mileage. That is my experience, from both sides of the desk.

Is it realistic to expect 10% off ?.........depends on the local market.

You want what is a popular car (moreso than a regular Carrera)........so I doubt it will be 10%.........more like 5% maybe.....who knows.

If money is your primary motivator........buy a 2007 for waaaaaaay less.

I am assuming you have already sat down with your local dealers and had an open checkbook on the table ?

My preferred Porsche dealer in CA is McKenna Porsche in LA. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, I forgot about McKenna. I'll be sure to check them out.
The primary motivator is "spec'ng out" the car. Price is of course an issue but at some point, I'll have to be realistic and pay what it is.
As a consumer, of course you want the most out of your hard earned dollar.

c4s is nice b/c it combines awd and open top so good summer and winter. im a conv fanatic and have always had one in stable for 25 yrs. i now drive 07 gt3 with sunroof and cannot overstate how great it is as an open car with both windows down and roof open. there is no wind buffeting and little noise even at high speeds. it is one of best things about what is an already amazing car.

look into one since not that different from c4s cost. go with c2s to save more.

if you must have drop top then how about amg sl55 or jag xkr? cant think of other awd/cab though.

    good luck with decision

10K off of MSRP is readily available here in NJ.

The last one I purchased was from Schneider Nelson in West Long Branch, NJ. I would provide you with a referral, but my sales guy is no longer there.

Downtown LA Porsche seemed pretty eager to negotiate when my buddy was looking to put in an order for a 997. (He decided to hold off for a while which was a wise move. He had to evacuate Lake Arrowhead and left his motorcycles behind. It would have been bad if he had to leave a brand new Porsche behind too.)

Man, once you get to the teens you're not far off a Turbo coupe either!

    Let me know Mike J.

I would not mind getting it from NJ to save a couple of grand.

What about a 996 turbo cab, they're getting to $80k now for '04s? I haven't driven both though, so I wouldn't know the difference in feel.

there is a big difference between the 996 and 997 porsches .the upgraded 997 interior alone would rule out a purchase of a 996 .

yep, you're right. I had a 996 turbo that I drove daily, it was great, but it was not a cab. Lastly, it looks so much older now than the new 997 interior.

So far, I've gotten as much as $7000 off. I really just want 8% off and its a done deal.

I priced a new C4S Cabrio and knowing that they drop in value like a Maserati tied to a big rock, I opted instead for a low mileage 993 c4 cabrio. I bought a car with 20 thousand one owner miles for around 41k dollars, and threw another 7k at it in the form of a new top, rs splitters on the front, a set of MY2002 Carrera wheels and fresh 18" rubber. The car looks fab, drives fab, is fully depreciated and cost me less than half the price of the new one. Granted, it is not a 'new' Porsche, but honestly, that's one of its charms. (The 997 being at attempt to go back to what was right about the 993 and getting away from the 996 in style).

For that kind of cash...get a RUF converted Boxster. But I doubt you will think similarly given your handle. :D
