A friend of mine said that there was a rumor (or speculation) in print or on the TV today which had Button taking Alonzo's seat. I did not catch it on TV. Does anyone else have info on this?

Kinda would make sense, 2 British drivers on a British team, with Hamilton obviously being the number 1 driver on the team.

The two British drivers doesn't make sense, most of their sponsors are not British. Last year this sort of speculation was made when JPM left, Dennis quashed the talk when he said something along the lines of "We've analysed the current driver market and we don't feel anyone is fit to drive our car". That was believed to be a targeted stab at J.Button.

Anyway the guy is contracted to Honda, I'm sure Honda will bounce back next year.

I would LOVE to see Button in a McLaren. I think he is way underrated and has good talent. He is very smooth and does not make many mistakes. I think his cars have usually just sucked.

Button could do well at McLaren. I think the only problem is that with a British team and two British drivers, it sorts of limits sponsorship opportunities. Best would be a team of one nationality and drivers of two different. The exception is a situation like Hamilton who captures peoples hearts and minds and generates a lot of revenue. But could Button add to it? Maybe and maybe not.

I really hope he can because I would love Jenson to get his shot. I think he would not argue/fight with Lewis, he would offer great feedback, he can likely be had cheap, he would be a team player, and quite frankly he deserves a decent ride for a change.

i'd be happy to see Button at Mac. he's wasting precious time at Honda, IMO.

+1. I wish his timing had been better. Even if he does go to McLaren, he would be second to Lewis although I think a lot more people like Jenson because he is such a decent chap and not some goody goody kid. I'd certainly root for him at McLaren.

    Nice post's folks..

Every year I think Honda are going get there car a front runner, and every time wrong.
So much so this year it's a total embarrassment.

Great if he got a drive for Mclaren.

It would take pressure of Lewis, and maybe his shine,as I don't think JB would have made Lewis's errors as he is much kinder to his tyres and a smoother driver .
Given the reliabilty Mc has had this year he would have done just great.
Lewis would probably have him beat in the Qualifying.
He may come cheap ,cash for Mc but as said maybe not a wise move sponser wise.

    Oh wishfull thinking..

Leave Jenson where he is and let him/Rubinho reap the success of a revitalised Honda - there's only 1 man to replace the surly/sulky Spaniard - Gary Paffett

Before Button will be allowed to drive at McL, he will have to get a shave and haircut, his present image does not fit McL.

Completely agree. I think he could use a good makeover. Guys who try to be cool and have the "planned 3 day stubble" spend more time on their looks than just shaving. It's the pretty boy mentality--and he needs to drive.

Latest rumor I read on Swiss Blick is that Ralf Schumacher is talking to Mercedes to get the 2nd seat next year. Funny.

+1 Id like to see Jens get a good ride. He works hard and can win. He is a good driver. Hamilton as good as he is...could probably learn a thing or 2 and Jens might offer some stability to the team.

I posted some weeks ago that he said he would like to drive for them. So Ralf is talking to Mercedes - but the question is: are Mercedes talking to Ralf? :D

Well for Mercedes it would make probably more sense marketingwise to have a German in the 2nd car than yet another British driver. If he offers his services for free or on a per points earned basis, it might be interesting to them. I'm no Ralfie fan, but I think he can drive. He just lacks motivation.

Yes, your are right about Ralf. Maybe in a first class car he would have the motiviation that apeared once or twice this year. I too think he can drive well.

I would love to see Button get a decent shot and I think the sport could use another contender/car combo next season.

If a German would make sense, I see McLaren picking up Sutil rather than Ralfy. But of course, they gonna pry Rosberg loose from Williams.

Come to think of it, Sutil made a nice pair with Hamilton in F3 and Hamilton still has Sutil in very high regard.

Ralf's time has passed. Who needs a driver that shows up one day and disappears the next? If he is not motivated to drive his arse off each and every GP then he belongs in some other series. Why waste a perfectly good seat on a guy like Ralf. If Mercedes really wants a German driver, then spend the money and buy out Heidfeld's contract, he is much more deserving of a McLaren seat than a washed-up has-been like Ralf.

Not sure on this, but I think Sutil doesn't have it. He made so many mistakes this season.

But there is one German waiting in the wings. I forgot his name, but maybe you can help? It isn't Glock btw.

i think they will give the job to de la rosa to keep hamilton happy and number 1 without having to declare a number 1 (since hamilton will beat him at every race) and keep the sponsor santander the spanish bank happy
