I don't recall . He did say that about Yamamoto when he went over Fisi's car but that was before he saw the replay . He took it back after seeing the replay.
Thanks Phil. I know I'm guilty of regretting what I stated after hitting the send button but I do everything I can to make sure that it doesn't happen again. I totally agree, differing opinions and views is one of the many characteristics that makes fchat so great. However, personal attacks and belittling comments are ugly and they're simply.......useless.
There is no doubt that when FM was leading the race, Kimi will win because FM is already out of the WDC race. What surprises me is that, a) Why FM pitstops timing (PS1 & PS2) were not shown on the TV? (FIA helping ferrari to "coverup" the swap??) b) After checking www.f1.com website, it shows that both FM and KR PS1 timing are almost identical with only 1 lap difference. FM - Lap 20 - 29.333 KR - Lap 21 - 29.163 c) FM was asked to pit again at L50 while KR went on for 3 extra lap and pitted on L53 Question is, did Ferrari purposely ask FM to pit early so that KR can pass him after PS2? I am not question the move to engineer the swap because it make perfect sense for Ferrari to do that during PS2, instead of asking FM to let KR pass in front of all the brazilain fans.
Yeah, +1000 I watched the race with my dad and we were talking about it that Sato passing Alonshole ON THE OUTSIDE was the only thing that made the race worth watching. However I have to rate it #3 1. Kimi taking the title 2. Massa Kubica battle in the rain 3. Sato's pass
Yes. Because technically, there aren't supposed to be "team orders". Which is why they have to coordinate the pitstops, so that kimi could have taken the lead with out risking his championship.
And I guess FIA did give a helping hand by not showing the audience FM pitstop timing and fuel prediction on screen...
but, it was also's Kimi's hard work in getting fast in-laps to ensure he'd get out in front of Massa. it was his game to lose.
There is no doubt about KR fast in laps, the only question is why he has a 3 laps advantage? if you look at how close FM was when KR rejoin the race after PS2, you will see that if KR only has 1 or 2 laps advantage, there will be a very good chance that KR might not be able to pass FM during PS2. Thats my observation..
Not really. Isn't it like rooting for both teams in the Super Bowl? I don't get it. Are you happy the Kimi won? Or are you sad that Alonso lost? Do you hope the appeal goes against or for Kimi's WDC to hold up? I am still confused. I could respect Mclaren's acheivements this year except they cheated. And they cheated MY Team as well as all of F1. I can't respect that. They allowed the biggest spy scandal in the history of F1 because they didn't blow the whistle on Stepney because they were enjoying the information and used it against Ferrari. the Barge board for one. I can't respect that. Then Dennis told us how much integrity he has. I can't respect that. Alonso is a great driver. He is not a team player. I respect his driving. Not his attitude.
I am first and foremost a racing fan. I would much rather have a season like this, regardless of who won the WDC, then another snooze-fest like 2002 or 2004. Anyone who would prefer to see a total Ferrari route, 1-2 every race, over a closely fought thrilling down-to-the-wire finish is not a Ferrari F1 enthusiast, they are a Ferrari sycophant. Someone made the analogy of watching the Indianapolis Colts play a high scholl football team. Where is the fun in that. I am a RACING fan first and foremost. My team happens to be Ferrari but I don't need Ferrari to win each and every time to enjoy F1. However I am thrilled that Kimi pulled it off this year. Hopefully that puts to bed the ridiculous commentary about this season needing an asterisk. Yet Ferrari too has a long history of cheating in F1. I don't put my Rossa-colored blinders on and act like an apologist for Ferrari any more than I do for anyone else. I am very disappointed in McLaren this season, I thought they were a bigger team than that, however I also recognize a high degree of selective outrage on this site. How much McLaren data did Nicholas Tombazis bring back with him when he returned to Ferrari after a year with McLaren? Had the situation been reveresed, how many people here would be wondering if he was a mole, sent by McLaren to Ferrari for a single year to learn as much as he can? How many folks here complained about Toyota when they stole Ferrari information? Or Renault taking several computer discs of information from McLaren? I have yet to hear one person mention the fact that Harvey Postlethwaite once led a team of Ferrari engineers in breaking ito the Williams garage to take detaile dmeasurements of their car back in the 1970s. I am very, very disappointed in the Stepneygate debacle as well. However I recognize a very myopic view of cheating in F1 by many of the participants here. It is one thing to criticize McLaren for their actions, it is quite another to be selectively outraged about their cheating while refusing to acknowledge that cheating in F1 is not limited to this one incident. Schumacher too is a great driver. It is a myth to think he is a team player unless that team's name is Schumacher. I do not have a problem with a selfish driver, all the greats were selfish, that is how they came to be great.
Prior to the start of the season, I was lambasted for having the gall to suggest that Massa was not worthy of the Ferrari seat. My support of the Ferrari team was qidely questioned because I did not support Ferrari's choice of driver. However, many of those folks criticizing me for questioning Massa are also the EXACT SAME folks calling for Kimi's head 4 races into the season and are now ALSO the EXACT SAME people claiming they will no longer support Ferrari if Alonso comes on board. My support of Ferrari never wavered simply because they have a mediocre driver like Massa in the second seat. I have no problem with fair-weather fans. I do have a BIG problem with those same fair-weather fans questioning my support of Ferrari. I stuck with Ferrari when Kimi got off to a slow start. I will stick with Ferrari if they sign Alonso. I will in no way tolerate some bandwagon groupie jumping on board when times are good and then calling my support of the team into question. Yes, I have been an F1 fan and a Ferrari supporter for longer than a lot of folks here have been alive but that is not the point. The point is that my support of Ferrari is consistent and unwavering, others here are far more conditional in their allegience. If so, then so be it but don't dare open your mouth and spout inanities about my Tifoso status when you don't agree with my opinion. I am a real and true tifoso, others here are only around for the good times.
IMVHO Phil is not a mediocre driver. Most poles this year. Could have had more wins except for team orders and mistakes made by the team. Not his fault. He had a great race in the rain and another race that did indeed look mediocre in the rain. He definitely has room for improvement there. He also won't get much practice passing if he is frequently on pole of number 2 behind Kimi. He is not as good as Alonso in the wet or as good a passer or as good a defensive driver. But who is? Kimi needed lots of help from Alonso and Massa to win the WDC. Hope his luck holds next year. We'll see. Phil is good driver. Not at Kimi or Alonso's level yet, but that may come. I thought Lewis was better than Phil until the last two races. Rookie mistakes. Huge. FORZA FERRARI! I am not saying SF are angels. None of us are. No one in F1 is. Bruce McLaren would be hugely embarassed by the team bearing his name. Justice was served IMVHO when Kimi beat both McLaren drivers for the WDC. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys. I enjoy close racing and close championships. Cheating ruins the sport whoever does it, SF included. Let the fastest driver in the fastest car win. When Senna won I could respect that. Great driver on a great team. He and Honda are not noted for cheating are they? McLaren will be under the stain of this year for years to come.
One could argue that Massa is inconsistent, bland and sometimes dirty. I´d personally agree on that. But I won´t say that he´s not fast; he got those pole positions with similar when not more fuel load than Kimi.
He is fast, no doubt. Blick's Roger Benoit tips him as the fastest driver of the field: http://www.blick.ch/sport/formel1/ferrari-mit-2-stargeigern-warnung-an-silberpfeile-74273 (Massa ist vielleicht der schnellste Mann im Zirkus) Translation: Massa might be the fastest man in the circus. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't judge Massa or any driver by number of pole positions. That statistic became meaningless when they mandated qualifying on race fuel.
Oh come on! The fight for pole position has become THE most important part of F1. Most races are won from pole. Please Andreas, stop these silly posts you use to put down Massa's achievements. I know you're a Massa fan too so why making these remarks? Best, Peter p.s. I'm not saying I'm happy with this situation that winning from a position other than the pole has become almost impossible. It's just the way it is.
Sorry pal, has nothing to do with Massa. I made this statement (that poles are seriously devalued) when they introduced the stupid rule of qualifying on racing fuel. IIRC I started a thread where I asked whether theoretically a Minardi could be on pole if they'd sacrificed the race. I forgot the outcome, but definitely anybody from the mid field could be on pole anytime they wanted. Nobody would do that on purpose, but amongst the top 4 drivers, it is really hard to say who is fastest based on pole positions. Speaking of (useless?) statistics: Kimi moved up in the eternal list of most fastest laps per race. He is now 7th behind Hakkinen and Lauda.
Okay, I understand. But winning the pole and then coming in after five laps won't win you the race. So winning the pole AND the race does say something about the driver. It's how the game is played. Nobody AFAIK has sacrificed going for pole to have a better chance of winning the race. It's impossible.
Not useless I think interesting I always like gettin fastest lap when racing makes me feel better when I dont win.
Pole AND win is a good indicator, agreed. Somebody who has nothing to loose (like a midfielder team outside of reaching 8th) could go for shock and PR value and put the car on pole. Remember Melbourne this year when Ron Dennis accused Heidfeld and BMW of "show boating" and qualifying with too few fuel? Uuh, did that backfire or what?
I could say the same things about Alonso . Inconsistent: Canada ,Spain and Fuji. Dirty: Spa and Hungary. Bland: Always . I could add a few more adjectives but I won't, and yes I know he is fast . Cheers.
