I am considering purchasing and importing an 89 328 GTS from the US for my own personal use. Can anyone help with respect to paper work, brokerage etc.. required for this to happen. Will there be taxes, will I be held up at border if I drive car back or should I ship the car via transport. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers.

I have imported a 83 Mercdes 380SL & a 79 308GTS from the US. Both times, I used Mackie Moving Systems. They pick up your car in a covered carrier from any predesignated address and they will deliver it to your door. www.mackiegroup.com Check out their website. They take care of brokerage, pay your duty and GST, wait for hours at the border for you and are fully insured. You pay on delivery. Average delivery charge is $1600 Brokerage $150, plus 6% GST and duty on the sale price .
You provide a copy of the bill of sale and ownership. Get the seller to scan both sides of the title and email it to you and then forward the documents to Mackies. They will guide you all the way. All you have to do is agree on a pick up date from the seller and wait for delivery. I was very pleased with their service.

Wind tunnel proven, the wind goes under the car and creates such ah...ya Green under glow produces the least resistance compared to red, blue, yellow etc and is the best to use especially if used in conjunction with interior glow. They have proven up to .5 seconds quicker on a 1/4 run. This is why I will be lining my whole car with neons, I will have more lightbulbs than CC's in my car :D

BTW, does anyone know the RIV's policy on brining over modified cars? I'm talking about slightly lowered, some minor engine/drivetrain mods, etc. I'd imagine they wouldn't permit such vehicles, but perhaps someone here knows for sure?

On the RIV site it says that you can not import kit cars assembled or unassembled that are less than 15 years old.

I know that there are some CAV and Superformance cars up here. How are these able to come in?

    Thanks in advance.

This only applies to franchised dealers, correct? I also heard that RIV has changed policies and now only accepts recall clearance letters from CDN dealers. Therefore, you take the car to your local dealership in CA and they will produce the letter for you.

My friend...all I can say to you is 'thumbs up' to the chicks with the c*m catchers (if that's your thing), but I do unequivocally say 'thumbs down' to anything by Superformance. I'm never going near one of those South African pieces of **** again.
