Excuse the new thread, but it is different from the first one. I would like to know what you all feel might be the best on-the-go digital camera. Here comes the discussion, I have been browsing and would like to hear some opinions from people that may have more knowledge/experience with these. Which would you consider the best of the best? I don't intend for this to be a poll, only a good discussion.

Each of these has very useful features and may be considered the current best, in class of their brand. So which would you pick and why?

Well i dont know a lot of cameras but as far as I know...

    The Canon were VERY GOOD
Sony also..my current camera is a W-50 and it never gave me troubles
The Olympus and the Kodak seems good also.

BTW as far as I see you want a 12 megapixel´s camera so (this is just an idea) why not try the Canon S3 IS it isnt so small like the examples that you put but it is a little bit more Profesional but the worst part is that it is a little bit more bigger than the other cameras

For a more professional cam I am using the Canon Rebel Xti, which I already have. That is more of one that I can play around with a little, try different lenses, etc. But it is not something that I enjoy carrying around everywhere. All I need to get is a great little camera to carry around that can take top quality pictures for events and occasions upon which I do not have my DSLR with me. Also as I see it, one of these pocket cams would be easier to pull out real quick for quick use, and not have to adjust to many things like you would in some cases with a DSLR. I am not yet good with that part, of which settings to have on at certain times. . . .

I have a cybershot that I've been using for years. It takes great "all around" pictures and has worked without a hitch for 3 years now. Only time I had a problem is when the old batteries died. It's a great camera and I'd highly recommend anyone who wants a point and shoot to go with Sony. Their cameras and camcorders are very consumer friendly...

I was messing with some different pocket cams at the store today, and wow, I was most impressed wit the little Canon SD1000 7.1MP. It took the best pictures by far and was very simple to use. I'm likely set on the Canons, we'll see.

Do you use any of the Canon software? If so, that's an argument for Canon right there.

Otherwise, get the smallest camera with the biggest optical zoom. IS is nice but not strictly necessary.

Personally, the Canon Powershot G9 interests me (mainly because it shoots RAW).

    Also, I've been looking into the PowerShot SX100 IS. 10X optical zoom : "6.0-60mm f/2.8-4.3 (35mm film equivalent: 36-360mm)".

Both are probably on the large side, though (haven't played with them in person). I've used many of the Powershot SD cameras, and I've liked them all. Can't really go wrong there.

After trying out a few different companies, I ultimately decided that the Canon pocket
cams were on top with the technology, quality and usability. So I picked up a PowerShot SD950IS last week, and it is amazing! For all that it can do, this little camera is priceless. If you are looking for such an amazing pocket size camera, this is defiantly the one. Thanks to all who gave advice and participated in the poll. Canons editing software is great, much better to upload with then what I was previously using. Here are a few pics that I took with it in auto mode.

Sorry I missed that one. I realized this after I posted the poll, so it was too late to correct it. However, I did check out the Nikon brand cameras, along with others. The Canon was the one that seemed to have the best picture quality; and over all most use full for me. So after all, I decided what I am happy with. Regarding the poll results, it sounds like we have 2 votes for Nikon sir.:)
