I believe they are made in South Africa. My old boss bought one and I had a chance to take it out. Nice sound, lots of torque, and actually got a thumbs up from a Cop at a light.......although, still a kit car!

Yes the CAV's are made in S. Africa from what I understand. Just thought the Superperformance were made here.

    Modified cars are fine.........

The Canadian Tire guys will only check for DRL's, door stickers, and child seat brackets........

RIV does not accept Canadian dealer letters..........they stopped that 2 years ago.

Who is buying these over priced Canadian Ferrari models? Prime example a 2004 Spider in Canada; trotted out for $30-40,000 more than the USA market same year Ferrari with lower mileage. Right now you could probably have your choice of 10 one owner examples down there. For some the owner claims the car has never even been driven in the rain. It's often a private sale where the current owner is finally getting his 430. Great cars there that make Canadian prices a sad joke...

A friend of mine just bought an '04 360 spyder back in September....I believe he paid $220,000 thru FoQ. Its a great car with low k and classic red/tan with F1, brakes, sheilds, and challenge grille.

Sadly I just noticed the exact same car on EBAY down in the US priced at $180,000 US...($170,000 CAD!!!!!!)

Did he get ripped off? No, he simply paid more than what he should have.

It makes you think twice about this calamity we are in.

Does anybody know if the Cobra replicar owned by the fellow that runs the hair salon in Kleinburg is a Superformance car and if it is a big block or small block?

There is another barber/salon on the corner of 27/Nashville in the Plaza....he's $25 and does a great job.

And he gives you a free espresso or cappucino with every cut.

No meaningful relief for the Canadian consumer anytime soon on price fixing by the car manufacturers. GM seems uncomfortable with the flow of US imported models into Canada. It has decided not to certify the 2008 model Corvette among others for importation to Canada. You have to ask for permission from Ferrari to see which 2008 models that RIV will accept. Nice end run on the importers. Just cut them off at the gateway to Canada; pesky pricing disparity solved!

    The fog lights.

You can get them wired up for $200 +/-......problem is, the dealer has to do it if you are importing vehicle under the RIV guidelines. If not.....you are lucky.

I was hoping to wire the lights myself..no dealers here!
Interesting..thought iwould be the lights adjacent to the fog lights.Cheers

It could be......I am going from memory.

I don't know if you'd get away with it or not by doing it yourself though......I never brought one across the border after RIV changed the rules for the umpteenth time. If I were you I'd call RIV first and ask for an exception due to their being no dealer in your geographic area.

    Best.

which lights are you referring to? I'd of thought the choices are the fog lights/DRL or the head-lights - the other lights are parking lights, no?

take this picture courtesy mla575; the DRL are the large clear lenses adjacent to the fake grill.

Since the car is most likely 15 years or older, you do not go through RIV, so anyone could pretty much do it for under 200

Yes, my 348 is a 1990 therefore, it is exempt from the RIV program. However, according to the local regsitry here in Alberta...I was told I DO need these lights to pass the out of provinnce test!!!
I will proceed with re-wiring the front fog lamps through a two point relay which is activated by the head/running lights.
This will allow the fog lamps (wired through the noramally closed contacts) to come on only when the engine is running and will automatically shut off when the headlamps/running lights are used.

In Ontario DTRL's seem to be optional on vehicles more recent than 1990.Including some police vehicles, there is an increasing number of cars without them. RIV is obviously not effective. Or body shops are more useless with electrics than in the past.

Whereabouts in Alberta are you importing to?

You could go through ZR Auto or Kulu, perhaps. I don't know what's around in Northern Alberta, but I'm sure there's a dealership that could do it.

Lots of body shops these days are getting more and more useless.
From the way I read it, the vehicle "has to have" DRLs if its less than 15yrs old (which brings it into RIV rules) when it comes into the country. At the same time, there's no way for them to know who did the work. You can do it in your garage, bring it across the border, and when they inspect it the vehicle already has the DRLs.

OK, another one bites the dust..........

My good friend Dave drove down yesterday, and just picked up an '04 360 Spyder, Red/Tan with Shields and Challenge grilles, Red calipers, 6spd..........from the US of course.

He's having a broker bring it in to Canada, and delivered to his front door for peanuts. And according to the Ministry of Transport, all he must do is change the lights (daytime). This will be performed by Daytona Auto.

Thats it...Total cost.......$179,000. So he basically saved $25,000. And all it took him was a 6 hour drive, and the car will be here on Friday.
