The official race dates were just announced this past Thursday: June 6th - 8th, 2008. Tickets for the race aren't available yet. If you fill in the form here, the organizers will send you an email as soon they are.

Tip: If you want to walk the pitlane/watch the Ferrari parade, you'll want to arrive in Montreal before Thursday morning/night.

Wouldn't you have rather drive a few 100 miles to Indy though? 318 from Detroit. Even though you would take a plane it is nearly 600 miles.

Don't mind him, the TdotO people are just jealous of us Montrealers being able to enjoy the fine GP... along with hotter women, better restaurants, more cultural events, prettier and safer city etc ;-)

It appears that the Canadian GP is confirmed. Can someone pm me, or post here, the hotels where the teams usually stay, preferably Ferrari (of course), along with some of the hotels where you all stay/recommend. Thank you all in advance.

Maybe I'm wrong-in the past the F1 site always had an * next to the Canadian GP and called it a "provisional" date but now it is gone, leading me to believe that the date is confirmed.

I suggest you use expedia or travelocity. I was lucky enough by booking so early to get a only mildly inflated rate. Montreal has a great subway system, so as long as your hotel is anywhere near a station, you're fine. Of course all the hotels in the downtown area qualify.

The best seats are normally the most expensive ones. Basically the Southend of the track, the first couple of turns after s/f and the Northern end of the track with the hairpin. If it is your first time at Montreal, I suggest the hairpin, most action for the buck and good infrastructure around that area with lots of food stands, restrooms and the support race paddock nearby. Plus closest to the subway and post race rock concert.

I've sat in the grandstans on the main straight and the hairpin; the hairpin seats are without a doubt the better of the two sections. As someone said before, there is non-stop action in this section: massive braking, dynamic cornering, and hard acceleration. Montreal loves F1 and it shows when the GP is in town. Hope you have a blast but, its hard not to.
