came into the tunnel from the PIE towards Tuas entrance, catapulted out of the lead-in lane (which is quite long) and just after the speed camera sign, there was a flash from the back so i cant really tell if it's side or top-mounted though i suspect the latter.

it's really frustrating cos i did the drive in the opposite direction this morning (coming in off the ecp towards the city) and there was only one other taxi in the tunnel! and we were both crawling along at 70km/h. grrrr.... the speed limit clearly needs reviewing.

jon, i dont know what you mean when you say "hope you've got someone to help redeem the points"; surely not...

Bummer...curious, why didnt you head the speed camera sign, when u noticed it? The newer cameras are digital I believe so the connection might not be hooked up yet? Could be just a trial...cross ur fingers

whoa...i just noticed this..speed limit 70 is probably due to new road conditions, they would probably raise it once everything is "seasoned"

Hmm 70 caught at 150...i need to get a calculator....

Are there speed camera signs in the tunnel? Didn't see them but I've only done ECP towards city & left turn into KPE to exit PIE towards jurong.

I've been thinking maybe I should just get a high revving Honda with less than 200Bhp & 1ton to fool around. The car will rev all u want & speed @ no more than 3 digits in 5secs yet u fully utilise all the cogs & horses. I've only been able to extract no more than 30% of my M :(

Project not finished yet ;) & he's resting @ home while I commute in the porker. Way too much glam the M has, tot I chose a dark colour to camo but it just doesn't fail to grab attention. Looks like I'll just take it out in the dark.

Last night while my family were walking along the street a red 599 drove pass & it's so quiet you would hardly blinked while the double round tailights look pretty lost among the traffic. I mourn the 4 round lamps of the 308s to 360s.

I don't know but few issues I thought.

1st it'll not be this price when we want to replace the rotors & pads for sure. I don't think we need to replace our rotors so soon but don't mind a change in pads when the time calls for it.

2nd, they are bigger by few mms? These are floating discs, don't know if ours are?

3rd, a little crazy to think that u have the improve on the brake system when we're billed so much for a car & it's specs are quite impressive as it is. I'm fine with mine, I might need you to help me to order Corsa tyres, improves grip by 10%+/- & better stopping distance while one guy claims it's quieter as well. He's so happy that he put a set on each of his Diablo 6 & GT other than his LP640.

4th Forgot to mention that if you like to boast about weight saving, these new rotors do save some weight! Better than changing to lightweight wheels. I think those guys with older cars such as 360 & before would be interested in this upgrade. The rotor hub is also anodized which is nice since ours are an ugly matt black that stains while the nice polished hubs are for the Ceramic system found on the SL & LP.

    Which sms?

    SMS you!

Your right. When it comes to replacing the worn out stock rotors or pads, this will definately be a choice.

I don't like to spongy feel from the stock brakes.

I wonder if the ceramic brakes on the SL has this issue resolved?

Spongy feel? Have u tried replacing the fluid?

U have to ask Rara on the SL or better still, forget all the upgrades & just buy it from him :)

Dear u got that right...to a certain point its diminishing returns cars most people own here are already so "developed" aftermarket parts etc lack the factory development cycles that make oem parts meet durability cycles. Lightened steel rotors at the end of the day would have some trade-offs. Anyone these days with a machine shop can make rotors, but at the end of the day, how durable are they? What kind of steel was used, steel composition, etc etc etc. In fact most people dun even need CCM at all, unless they do track work or just want to brag about it.

At the end of the day with high performance cars, not many people can even extract 80% from the stock chassis. Even with weight reductions ultimately improved performance comes from the person behind the wheel, his weight and his skills....put schumacher in a Honda v-tech and an average driver in a Ferrari CS on our new F1 street track and the honda would be able to lap it really quick ;)

For most Singapore owners who rarely track their cars, any further lightening or "upgrades" is merely hmmm academic

I wonder why people put modern exhausts on classic ferraris anyway :D

For once I agree with u ;) CCM are much lighter than stock steel system & reduce substantial weight but I read that CCM are notoriously ineffective when cold so imagine driving 20mins to work & home daily....but they shine on trackdays. That's why some folks spec standard steel rotors for some hi-end exotics & use the balance $ to upgrade the toy. I've never tried Ceramic before so what I say may not be relevant.

So far, I get pretty satisfied on low-powered cars as I find that I can exploit them fuller & not get into serious trouble. Look @ those old civics etc, I've seen them taking corners @ insane speed. Either the driver is a dare-devil or he's trying to kill someone.

I think it's still good to lighten the toy as it improves the power-weight ratio. Every single tuner will tell u the first thing to do is lighten the car & make it more focused Eg. McLaren F1. Still touted as the best driver's car ever after more than 15yrs?

Now what's wrong with putting Tubis etc on classic Ferraris? Stock system are always heavy & restrictive.

The spongy feel is inherent in the G. I am not sure if changing the fluid will help. Changing the pads may. This is the one complain I had with the car. Oh but but...its the same car hahahaha. But Melvin confirmed it happens to all the Gallardos. :)

Pardon me if this has been posted before...

LTA has contracted six traffic wardens from a private company at $34,000 a year to take down the licence plate number, make and colour of vehicles that intrude into bus lanes at peak hours.

Note you can get fined $130 for dropping someone off at or near the bus stop.

LTA has intensified their operations at the following areas:
    1) Eunos Link
    2) Hougang Ave 3
    3) Jurong Town Hall Rd
    4) Lorong Chuan
    5) Orchard Rd
    6) Upper Serangoon Rd
    7) Upper Thomson Rd / Yishun Ave 2

    Additional spots where speed traps were seen;
    1) PIE towards airport near Toa Payoh exit, tripod mounted speed camera at the pedestrain overhead bridge. 90km/h
    2) PIE towards jurong near adam road exit, tripod mounted speed camera over at Adam Road flyover. 90km/h (I saw this myself one early Sunday morning - a dude with his camera standing on the bridge. Happened 2 wks back and I dunno if kenna or not)
    3) Braddell Road after Bishan Junction towards CTE, tripod mounted speed camera at the pedestrain overhead bridge. 60/kmh
    4) Queensway towards Bukit Merah, tripod mounted speed camera under tree before Ridout McDonalds. 60km/h
    5) Spot along Upper Bukit Timah Rd towards Woodlands Rd, tripod mounted speed camera under tree after a curve turn - 60km/h.

I read somewhere that ceremics like the porsche needs to be replaced in pairs due to balancing issues. Not sure about the CCMs. Having lighter rotors are great of course due to the unsprung concept.

Lightening of course is great. But you have to see the genetics of the car itself. If inherently its already "heavy" short of ripping out everything including air-con, traction controls, electronics etc shavings of a few kilos here and there dun amount to much, unless u can target for >100kg range then i can agree that it does have its benefits. Anything less than that especially in a murcie's case well as i said previously its purely academic, sounds good for shop talk of course or just plain justification for spending happy money :) Just a discussion here darling, no right or wrong, just playing devils advocate :D

You must remember that the McLaren is considered the best car because it started out from the drawing board as a no holds barred supercar. But Lambos/Ferraris for the road are made with compromises to road safety, regulations etc etc. Thats why there would never be another Mac..look at the latest attempt by Gordon, the Caparo is a far cry from the Mac hor? Tuners do advocate continued improvements to the stock car, but then again its limited to replacing what is already on the car, they cant rip out a sub frame nor replace the chassis with a carbon tub.

If one is really serious about lightnening the car, than big wings and strips are not the way to go. As for your car, I cant see much more you can do about weight savings, i doubt you would remove the a/c, carpetings, stereo/speakers, hmmm. You could remove the airbag system, plus the side impact bars in the doors, that alone would save you some serious weight.

Civic/ricers drivers travel at insane speeds because they are mostly young punks who have nothing much to lose...not quite unlike the folks here who have families, estates, HNWI rarely throw themselves with abandon, life is worth too much literally :D But i do see your point, when the car is cheap you tend to take more liberties with throwing it around. Just like plain water, u drink it without a thought, but if its a 82 margaux, you would go slow..real slow. Its all about mindset. Thats why making a car goes further for most cases is based on driver mindset, skillsets and of course light weight drivers, you never see tall or medium jockeys on horses for that reason :)

Yep replacing exhausts are a good start, the only two cars where replacing the stock exhaust would make things worse is the new GT2 and Pagani F as they both come standard with titanium exhausts

If you guys are serious try to look at Option magazines as some of them do fabricate titanium exhaust for european exotics...

Ok back to sex topics please...where is Rara & Fong Pte Ltd?? :D
