1984 412 Roadster Prototype by Scaglietti, s/n given as "PROTO4120E0065201." Recently sold at Gooding & Company's Pebble Beach auction for $110,000 including buyer's premium (lot #21): http://www.goodingco.com/auctions/results/pebble07/
I guess it requires a sophisticated collector, to me it isn't what I would consider a successful styling excersise. Regards, Art S.
The full VIN on the car is ZFFYX31X0G0065201. This car used to be owned by Greg Garrison. When seen at Tillack's place in August, 2000, it had a badge on it from Lingotto Carrozzeria. The body is made of Kevlar; Garrison bought it directly from the factory. Pictures of this car appeared in Cavallinos 35, 36, 37, 41, 42 and 49. Pictures and a detailed article concerning 65201 can be found in Ferrari Story 16. The odd thing is that both that auction lot and Garrison claimed the car was an '84 - when the serial number falls in the 1986 range.
I'm not a fan of Scaglietti's studio including the current namesake. This one looks to me like a 348 that has been buggered by an old BiTurbo
