Have you priced headers from ferrari? a pair would surpass that price (and I agree with you that is crazy for some bent tubes hahaha) . On top of that, as you already know, they are crap needing to replaced probably 8 times in a 100,000 miles. Regards, Vern

I put a set on mine last spring and love 'em. Of course, I didn't order them so don't know of that experience but I think installed was $5k or so. What is the problem w/ quality?

Stebro headers come with a lifetime warranty so I am a little confused by the comments about their lack of quality as well.
Their finish(mandrel bends) and more robust stainless steel looks excellent as well and they come ceramic coated both inside and outside for the heat issues.
Compare that to the factory headers which are $4500 each in Canada......which translates to $9,000 for the pair also making the Stebro price of 5 g look pretty good. And for the factories warranty? Maybe a year (not sure because the dealer never talks about any warranty on their parts)?
Having said all that I have never installed them so we really need some comments from those that have.

Gershwin, have you had any heat related issues (ie alternater failures) due to the lack of heat shields?
And how was the fit of the headers? Were there any issues?

Wow - I never put two and two together on heat and headers but now that you mention it my alternator did go bad a couple months after I put them on, then the volt regulator and as of 1 month ago I had a "slow down" light come on and the car is now in route to my service folks for diagnostics. I never thought of a connection between heat and these electrical gremlins over the summer. - I'm going to have them check it out.

Now in terms of performance and I've stated it a couple of places on the board - I couldn't be happier w/ the headers. They've brought the engine whine to a "WHOLE NUTHA LEVEL" I have hyper flows and tubi but the headers are an incredible trifecta hookup. Fit and finish is good.

Are there any heat shields available?

I have ordered exhaust for my 328 a few years back from Stebro----welds not correct, bung not welded properly---I had to have it welded properly by a friend before
i installed it. That was after 2 months waiting for the replacment because they sent the wrong one the first time. Then another 2 months waiting for the refund due to me----there customer service BLOWS!!!!!!!!

Of course the Ferrari headers are expensive--Does anyone really replace Ferrari stock headers with stock headers? Tubi, NAperformance, Fabspeed---All priced cheaper than Stebro....

    Gershwin,

Some of the other owners have no heat shields on their headers and have fabricated some form of heat shield around their alternater and wiring.

I can't recall seeing any photos of these sheilds on this site but perhaps someone can post some pictures of their set up so that you can fabricate something similar.

    Anyone?

As far as heat reduction goes you have a few options...

The heat wrap posted below is one, havingthe headers ceramic coatedis another, and any decent race shop should be able to fab up a heat shield for a reasonable price.

I know what you mean. I have a stebro in the garage not installed yet, and I have to say, those are not the prettiest welds I've ever seen. I guess whats most important, is that they dont leak. I know they cant be seen when its installed, but you have to think: "If they will send something out this way, with things you CAN see.................Whats up with the stuff I CAN'T see? !!

    I hope it sounds good.

What's the crap story?? All those headers I described do cost less than Stebro and who besides a dealer actually goes out and buys factory headers to replace stock ones----No one----when there are better choices aftermarket than the stock ones....Maybe Stebro has stepped up there game after years of complaints. I base my opinion on real world experience I personally have had with Stebro products. Not hearsay....

285 - I was agreeing w/ you....sounds like they mishandled the whole situation.

I can't comment on whether Stebro has stepped up their game - may be same crap you experienced. I didn't purchase them my mechanic did so I can't attest to anything other than they have performed great to date.

I have ran my 355 pretty hard for the last couple of weeks. No problems with my manifolds or wraps. No heat issues. Track had no problems also. FYI
