I see alot of Mondials with the 348 wheels which are nice but just like the Porsche 993/996 Turbo twist wheels everybody wants them. I can see why as they are nice wheels. But when I get my Mondial I wanted to go with something a little different. I am thinking 8x17F and 9x17R. I was wondering what they offset of the hub is and what the bolt pattern is(i.e 5x130 like My Porsche). I would like to have something similar to what I have now. I Currently have BBS LM's. But I was thinking something from Kineses, Fiske, BBS etc.

Those wheels do look great, especially with that color.
I think personally 17" is the best looking diameter for the car.

I recently put new wheels/tires on my 308. I decided to go with spacer/adapters which ended up giving me many more wheel options.

I found some 5x108 (5x4.25) to 5x4.5 adapters which can come in various widths which make more of todays standard offsets (+40, +38,+20 ect) work. It's just a simple matter of finding the right spacer and wheel offset to get back or close to OEM offset.

For instance on my 308 the OEM offset is +11. I used an 1.5" (38mm?) spacer on the front with a +40 wheel and ended up with an overall +12...close enough.

    Just throwing out the option.

    Good luck

cool so there are options out there if I look. I would like to do a staggared look again like my Porsche. Are they any downsides to this on a F-Car. For example. On my Porsche if I run bigger wheels and don't sun the 968 Caster blocks I can get hairline cracks in my control arms and wear out the ball joints faster. And in early boxsters you couldn;t run anyting bigger than 17" wheels because the suspension wasn't designed for anything bigger and heavier than that

Stay tuned, next week I will attempt a mesh wheel on mine, I'll post photos as soon as they are on if they fit. Aggressive is an understatement if they fit, that's all I can say so far.

On the 5 Mondials I owned, i've always put wider wheels in the back, and never had a problem. I've also seen 19" wheels on some, so I don't think there should be any problems as long as they fit. The Mondials are built strong.

    Looks great Stephane!

You know what's weird? You and I have the same birthdate (same date, same year), and we both have 1983 Mondial QV Coupes! LOL...

ScaleDetails, when I was looking for a Mondial I could not stand the black bumper models, but I have now seen numerous american owners black bumper cars on this website and they all look superb, your car with the 19's looks wicked.

    Thanks Neil,

I agree, although I painted my bumpers on my very first Mondial, I now think that the black looks great and gives the car more substance.

I've got to say I think they look better on your car than mine. As stated by others I was never a fan of the black bumper cars....until now. It has to be the wheel tire combo 'cause the car has a whole new look. I like mesh on my women and mesh on my Mondials. Must be an 80's thing huh? LOL

I do too!! Maybe because yours were 18"s? I took a gamble and went for 19"s, now I am glad I did.

I have an 82 Mondial. I share the same problem, converting the metric rims. I spotted some 2005 360 18 inch rims. Does anyoneknow if this would work? Thanks

    Stephane,

    Those are beautiful wheels!
I just love 19's on the car, I am running 17's and will change to 19's next year.
    What manufacturer are they?
Are you running an offset spacer in the back?

I like the 17's because they add a little height and reduce the sidewall exposure but the 19's change the look completely.
Not sure of the style yet though...
