Enzo after a lap around Fiorano in the 288 GTO with Benuzzi... you think? I just like this image of the old man. In life one must laugh a little. Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login

nice pictures of gto in black, never seen that before.I owned black Ferrari and love Black over red cars. But the Gto is awesome in Red with the seats in red daytona inserts black seats,I saw full black seats in GTO but the red daytona seats are fare better: more characteristical GTO!
I thought I was going to like the GTO with the "red" inserts because one of my Daytona Spyders has the black seats with red (small vinyl stripe) inserts, but when I saw it in real life I didn't like the orange color. I think Ferrari should have made the small stripe red, and really make it red, not orange, to complement the red exterior. Now, I could say I searched out a GTO with all black seats, but the truth is I was searching for a California legal GTO, waited 18 months for one to pop, and it happened to have all black seats. (This was back in April of 93 if I remember right.) I probably would have purchased an orange insert car if that is what the car had. Living in CA made the BAR label the key. Steve
I'm going to have to check this out. It could be time to screw down the wastegate, put in the dog clutch, put the suspension on the provided lower location, and off we go.... Steve
Steve, See page 19 of this thread (post # 364) and page 20 (post # 392). It would be worthwhile you talking to Tom W because he has owned that GTO from new and he has been through the development and set-up process. I understand that only the purpose-built 512 BBLMs can hold him at bay in the Series. I think youd enjoy it. Goodnight! Joe www.joesackey.com
Engine numbers appear to be randomly allocated to chassis. I have nothing to suggest that 118 shouldnt be in 55165... Joe www.joesackey.com
Thanks for referring to the inserts correctly as "orange". They were never red to begin with! Re-Originals had repros made in red thinking that the orange examples they came across had faded! LOL. Joe www.joesackey.com
I'm not sure my info is entirely correct and I apologise in advance if I'm wrong as I am by no means an expert but AN's (I assume Adrian Newey) car sold through auction around 3 Years ago? Gstaad I think, The car that was badly damaged (with red inserts and no aircon) is another car that was for sale over the last two Years+ at Bob Houghtons in England, (present owner was around 10 Years from memory) In around 1986/7 this car was crashed heavily on the way back from a trackday at Brands Hatch and rebuilt by Foskers (independant specialist) and then subsequently checked and signed off as a good repair by Maranello's, the UK importer. The car won the UK FOC Concours after it's rebuild. I looked at this car in April/May 2006 at Houghtons with a view to buying it, at the time the price was around £160k and they wanted another £10k to add Aircon, (non storied cars were selling for around £185k in the UK at the time) It was still for sale in April/ May this Year when I enquired and the price had risen to £170k. The Car was currently registered on a UK plate like 7170 RE or similar, there is a substantial history file with the car including photgraphic rebuild etc. I have some pics somewhere, will have a dig around. I didn't feel the price difference was enough to reflect the history and seeing how long it has taken to sell shows there are few buyers interested in it
As an aside in June'06 I was fortunate to get to drive the ex Eddie Irvine Car, B1 GTO, a few pics below (my 575 in the background) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
