I hate what the Dallas Morning News has done to the TV guide section of the Sunday paper. They have destroyed the sequential day & time coverage for Monday through Friday morning, afternoon, and late night - and put in a confusing five day guide for the weekdays stuffed in between Sunday and Monday. The reasons given were - "it matches the format used in many other papers" - ((( I say so what? ))) It sure does not make things easier to find. The only possible real reason I can think of is that maybe it saves a few pages of paper. How many? Well, the old way had 2 double-sided pages for each weekday. Morning, Afternoon, Prime Time, Late Night. 2 * 5 = 10 pages. This new mess still has 2.5 double-sided pages for the weekday prime time...plus a double sided page each for the 5 day Morning, Afternoon, and Late Night. This equals 5.5 double sided pages, or a magnificent paper savings of 4.5 pages, which in fact I suspect will be used up with pontifications on various new shows or advertising spots. Maybe I am just mad at them about the format, but I also truly believe that they have greatly slipped in their ability to correctly report the programming itself - we have noticed many blank blocks "to be announced" and a number of plainly erroneous entries. Arrogant and irritating, say I for one.
Maybe it is. The TVguide & the Travel sections were about the only things we still read in this paper anyway. Our HD cable has an on-screen menu, too - but a plain old paper guide is quicker and easier to reference.
At&t's FIOS is cool, but the programming guide GUI is SLLLLOOOOOOWWWWW to refresh/interface with. I mean like a full second when scrolling one channel to the next. So freaking annoying.
PM me your cell # please, my cell phone took a schvitz and your number went down the drain. Looking forward to catching up!
