Fantastic. I especially love the area around the roll bar (<- correct term?), looks very nice. Can't wait for the complete painting to be finished!

You never cease to amaze me. Perfection as usual. "360 Reflections" is a good name, but personally, I'm starting to
call it "The Spider's Web". That reflection on the rear reminds me so much of a spider web. Whatever it's called, I
    call it gorgeous!

Its great to hear the support guys! Appreciate it.
Great name Adrian.. never drew the connection (yeah bad pun) to a spiders web but youre right! And the double meaning of "Spider". Very cool.

will try to get some done tonight... (Survivor night)
want to finish this thing this week... will take some work and some luck.. but thats the plan...

    James is still Surviving! yay!

anyways... post-Survivor i got a little bit done...
Fixing the interior. Kinda worried.. spending TOO much time "fixing" in that section. I want the area dark, but still make out stuff.
Should have planned out that area better, but we are getting there. Thats the problem-feature with watercolour, with oil paint you can paint over stuff until its right. While there are tricks to "change" things... its best to get it down the first time.

    more work ahead.

You have certainly mastered watercolors Grant. If you have never tried clayboard, you may want to experiment with a sheet. You can use different
media on the board, but one of the cool things about using watercolors on the board is that you can erase areas by lightly sanding with steel wool.

Now, back to the project at hand. Still looking great.

    Its coming along... thx!!

Adrian, i havent used clayboard before. But sounds intruiging... does it "feel" the same as paper? the colour doesnt "sink into" the surface?

some highlites and 'pings' and cleaning up edges and such. used purple for the seams.. seems to fit in better and be less of a intrusion than solid black. (Using solid black can sometimes create a "black hole" in a painting and be very distracting)
I had an unorthodox idea for one of the last stages. The polygon grate on the rear decklid is one heckuva complex thing.
I have plotted out the grate flat in Illustrator and and warped it into my perspective by using a photo-template of the unfinished area of the painting. I ended up with a pretty accurate printout of the section. Will graphite the back of the print and trace that down on the paper.
    Hope it works...

Here it is so far... we are in the home stretch now!

looks fantastic, Grant. as an architect who has tried to master (with little success) the art of the Beaux Arts ink wash, can I ask you what kind of paper are you using. It's been awhile, but I think I used to use Arches 260# paper

    thank you.
i use Arches 300#, the heaviest i can find as i dont like stretching paper... did that for a couple years and hated it... worth the $20 a sheet. (used to be $30... that was hair-raising starting on THAT... hard to be loose on a piece of paper equivalent to a weeks worth of groceries at the time... :))
i tape it down all around the edges with plastic packing tape (as you can probably make out in the photos) so it doesnt buckle... well it does, but only minimally... it "arches" (no pun intended) a bit but doesnt go haywire like lesser pound paper would.

I have only used the clayboard with a smooth surface, but I see they have a textured surface now that is similar to watercolor paper.
Go to www.ampersandart.com. One of the other great things about clayboard is that your watercolors can then be framed without glass!

Can't wait to see how the meshwork turns out. Great idea with using Illustrator. I like the merge of old-school watercolour painting - brush on paper - with modern-computer work.
    Good luck!

recheck Grant's post #34. Still going to be all watercolour, just using computer to plot the meshwork on the grate.

    And here it is.

the weekend went well. The printout idea, though time consuming to finally render, executed very well. Definitly do it again, if the scenario arises. Helps ALOT!
Some white acrylic was used. I know, against the rules of watercolour... but the window edge and the top edge of the cockpit needed the highlite.
All in all, the painting turned out positive.
Thanks to all for your encouragement and support!

    Hope you like it.

Thank you so much. Been a pleasure.

Started out for myself... but it has since been spoken for.

i will post a high(er) res version on my photobucket site. I want to take a better shot of it in proper sunlight and colour balance it better. 2 setbacks however... 1) its raining and 2) i wont be at my computer for a few days. So stay tuned...

    thx again everyone!!

I am in shock over the detail in the honeycomb pattern over the engine...the gradiant there is astounding. Great touch with the logo and text on the side window's glass as well. Looks fantastic.
