I don't know, Peter - but if the interest shown on the AtlasF1 Nostalgia forum (where I originally found the link) is anything to go by:

    .... I would suspect they've got the message ! ;)

Thanks Paul. BTW did I notice correctly that the Chaparals had movable wings or am I seeing things?

Of course they did, Peter. Chaparrals had automatic transmissions - but three pedals. The third one was to operate the rear wing. Quite simply, when the driver was on the straight, he kept his foot down on the 'third' pedal. This kept the wing in a horizontal position - hence minimum drag. The drivers used left-foot braking, so when, coming into a corner, they took their foot off the third pedal, to apply the brakes, the wing dropped to a steeper angle to give more adhesion through the corner. The car's wing struts operated directly on the rear suspension.

Check out these two YouTube videos of a Chaparral 2E ('continuation car'):

The magazine article scan in the ************* post probably explains the operation of the Chaparral's wing better than I have. ;)

I just got info that the release has been pushed back to January 2008. The good news is that they've found so much material it will be somewhere between 90 and 120 minutes :)

Why not? I too think its a brilliant idea as I'm always fascinated by them Chaparrals. Plus the possibility of hearing some stories from some of the experts in this board sounds perfect.

The prospect of watching a long Can-Am documentary film around midwinter is perfect to me! Thanks for the update, bigodino.
