He wanted team principal role and I guess JT wasn't ready to give it up.

Anyway, JT's last interview on the subject of Ross wasn't very reassuring.

yea but Honda? damn...that team took 10 steps backwards this season. another reason is maybe it's located in the UK itself.

It is too bad Ferrari could not work something out to keep him. I guess Jean Todt had too much power. Can't fault Ferrari though, the Ferrari team did win both championships against incredible odds. So there was no way to "easy" JT out of the position. I wish Brawn a lots of luck!

Having just read this post on Brawn, going to HONDA, a few impressions.

What is happening at Ferrari? Is Luca's thinking right? Letting a major Ferrari asset like Brawn, go to Honda, instead of heading the Scuderia?

Who will compliment him at Honda? Fernando Alonso and/or Michael Shumacher, with Button? Honda will emerge as a powerhouse, sooner now, than later.

Who will go to Renault? Will Michael Schumacher be back together with Flavio Briatore, as at Benetton, if Fernando Alonso, goes to Honda, instead of Renault? This is presuming that Luca, forced Michael, to make the retirement choice, before he was ready. or whatever other reason, existed? Didn't Michael, just do some fast laps on a Ducati, this last week, that surprised many people to his competiveness at his age, 38 I think?

Maybe others that are closer to this than me, would like to post their thoughts on all of this?

Who said 2008, won't be fun?

    Ciao...Paolo

Floppys? Damn are you old, LOL!

Ferrari seemed fine this season, and if this gives Jenson and Rubens a chance to be competitive, then good for them. I'd actually like to see Honda step it up and win some races.

It doesn't matter. They have nobody to drive their car.

Honda has always been a force in racing. Not their habit to run at the back forever. We shall see.

Honda is desparate - they have Barrichello there telling them about how it was at Ferrari back when Ross was running the show. They have all the money they need to make things happen - so there you are!

If he had a better deal at Honda he should have just stayed at Ferrari, huh? He said all along that he would give Ferrari first refusal for his services. I'm sure he did that. Apparently Ferrari didn't want him to stay enough to match Honda's offer. That makes him a bastard?

    +1

I am sure Ross gave Ferrari first refusal - perhaps Maranello is not big enough for both Brawn and Todt anymore. :) Perhaps more than perhaps.

Anyway, it's just business and he's got quite a challenge ahead of him. As said, I think where 2007 was FUBAR, 2008 is shaping up to be very interesting.
Ross Brawn gave his heart to the team and was terrific while at SF; I only wish him the best....3rd place behind a Ferrari 1-2. :)

is this story for real? there's no reports about this on f1-live.com and any other websites.

edit : i thought, if Brawn does come back to Ferrari, he wants to run and oversee the team on the track, while JT focuses more on road cars.

I wonder if Todt's cooling off in regards to Brawn had anything to do with the Stepney case. Stepney did mention that they were planning on going to Honda together and here you have Brawn at Honda.

I just don't understand where Brawn testifying on Ferrari's behalf at the WMSC meeting (as recently as Sept.) fits into all this.

Honda has two great drivers and now will have the management expertise to win races.
I wish Mr. Brawn good luck.
Now, who will help Toyota's millions get on a winning track?
And what of the Williams' team?
More top notch competition is what the sport really needs.
