    Domenicali replaces Todt
    Monday 12th November 2007

Just moments after Honda confirmed the signing of Ross Brawn, Ferrari have announced that Stefano Domenicali will replace Jean Todt.

The team revealed that sporting director Domenicali will take on the role of Director of the Gestione Sportiva as of January 1 2008. The position is currently held by Todt.

Other changes include technical director Mario Almondo stepping up into the role of operations director while Aldo Costa will become the new technical director.

Gilles Simon has been promoted to engine director.

Meanwhile it remains to be seen what role Todt will take at the team and whether he will stay on as the head of the Ferrari automobile company.

Another crucial building block for Alonso's arrival at the Scuderia in 2009 has been put in place.

    Things are looking up.

There has never been a team in modern day F1 racing that could keep winning for a decade. Ferrari will not do it either. So in another 6 or 7 years from now we will look back and see what Ferrari did wrong and it may be starting right now. Add Alonshole to the mix and down the long hill of loosing we will go.

I think it has more to do with becoming a fully intergrated Italian team with the exception of the drivers. The big Englishman and the small Frenchman that made managed this team to its present success wil no longer be there and the new Italians in place will continue to be as successful for at least a few races before it all goes wrong.
Luca wanted Kimi to win, not Massa as we saw that this season, otherwise he would not have beeen justified in getting rid of MS and paying lots for Kimi when he had a great driver already. That was written all over Massa's face in Brazil.

If Jean Todt is being reassigned within Ferrari, then what is the likelihood that he is going to stick around? If his new position is one that he does not enjoy, then would he leave F1 altogether or go to another team a la Ross Brawn? Toyota could certainly benefit from his experience. I just don't see him being happy at Ferrari any more and looking to greener pastures elsewhere.

I think your correct and he has stated in the past that F1 is still his passion, how much can he look forward to on the production car side? If he goes to Toyota, it would be a big surprise, but nothing surprises me anymore.

If these chaps are being promoted based on merit fine, but if the fact that they are Italian played a large role in the decision to promote them then I think it's a big mistake. Ross Brawn should have been TP next season IMO. Massive experience and a proven record, what more can you ask for?

Wow, what a complete 180 from 2006. Brawn, Todt, Michael all gone. Wow. I'm really curious as to how SF will perform in '08.

Don't forget they didn't get it done in '06...this year they did sans Brawn and MS...not pushing the panic button-yet.....

Letting Brawn go will prove to be a huge mistake.

But, you must agree that 2007 was an atypical championship....
